My head will tell you a 5, my body might beg to differ. I think we are struggling this year because we’ve been facing high levels of uncertainty and scrutiny for several years now. This year has put us in the middle of a mask and vaccination debate. In addition, somehow the powers that be think that after all this we should be back to normal in the middle of a pandemic. With increased class sizes, continuing extended absences, losses of loved ones, and extensive gaps in academic and behavioral skills, the belief that teachers should be accountable for state testing and full cycle evaluations may not be what we should be focusing on now. I know I feel closer and closer to that last straw.

10 being ten times tired and 10 more days of straightening my classroom. You see, I teach Kindergarten. My all of my students are awesome! But one of them is gifted with the ability to run like a gazelle, dumps his and other students’ materials on the floor; pushes himself up and leaps to stand on the counter; closes the classroom doors so he’d be locked-out to play in the play structure in the classroom’s backyard; dumps writing tools into the toilet; jumps on other kids as he cruises across the room; pour water on their notebooks… Everyday my classroom looks like it’s hit by a super-tornado! He still cannot speak in complete sentences. He comprehends and follows my lead when I work one-on-one with this kiddo🙃 I asked for support for this little one but the parents are against anyone observing their child - afraid that their student might be labeled as with ADHD or a child with special needs.

Being transparent here… I’ve been on anti-depressants for years… keeps me leveled out and functional. Last year I nearly had a breakdown… this year I have a new position with less stress.

Well, I am 55 years old and I have twins in middle school and a 16 year old, who are all driving me crazy! My husband works out of town and oh yeah, I teach Title 1 Prekindergarten 3 Year Olds! So I am exhausted everyday! I am giving it all I got but I am afraid my best is about a 2! So I definitely understand!

Bless your sweet soul!! You remind me of my pk3 teacher friend. She was feeling pretty down a couple of weeks ago ♥️. Time to: -Tune out the negative & turn up the positive. -Get crafty with your littles, it’ll blow off steam and create some bonding time to be silly and laugh a little. -Have a come to Jesus with your offspring, apologize for not being your best & try to remember that some days are just as hard for our children as they are for us 🙏. That reflection usually helps me...and makes me truly be in the moment with them (after school). Usually if I am open with my kids, let them know I’m feeling down and like a failure it causes them to rise up. Our children truly care about our wellbeing. We just need to show them that we need them....and also we need to reflect on what we needed from our Mom at that age.

Tomorrow is pajama day at school after our week of fall break. At least there’s that! 7

I know several schools that are year round schools. They usually have about a month break during the summer, 1week fall break, 1 week Thanksgiving, 3 weeks Christmas and a couple weeks for spring break. They usually have their fall break early or mid October. They love the schedule. More breaks during the year.

Ehh...10, why not 😉. One team teacher out all week, another off 1.5 days, with not a sub in sight ❤️. Worked/taught all day today @ apparently the only school in the USA that wasn’t out lol 😂. BUT, on the bright side we are celebrating National “Bring Your Teddy Bear to Work/School Day” on Weds and it is going to be soooo cute and fun which is just what we need right now. I’m prepping to be ready to do a guided cookie decorating sesh with 61 students, in four separate groups. We are going to “Build a Bear” 🥰. Last year and the beginning of this year really stunk! Summer hit (in between) and my blues were BAD. I changed my anxiety meds at the beginning of school...got hit with covid, anxiety went through the roof and I was exhausted with post Covid anxiety syndrome!! Now I’m at a point where I’ve taken a step back, reflected, and I’m dang determined to incorporate the things that make me and the students happy in ALL that I do. Crazy, chaotic, MESSY craftivities are totally our jam!!

Definitely at a 1 right now. This has been hands down one of the hardest years I’ve ever taught in. The students are super difficult, not feeling support from administration, and colleagues have some of the worst attitudes. Morale is down big time….I’ve said so often already that it might be time for a career change and I’m on year 18.

1. Was told over the weekend that I have to give more worksheets because parents don’t understand my “progressive” reading and writing workshop context-based instructional methods. Parents who believe the textbooks are “smarter” than the teachers.

like

I can’t just ignore the worksheets that come back because I actually have a parent complaining to the principal that sometimes the homework stays in the child’s folder for more than a day (I don’t get to the pile of homework until the kids leave because I’m really not into it so I remind them the next morning if they failed to hand it in). Also, a parent wants me to start sending home the corrected worksheets her child completes in class.

Transitioned into consulting post-MBA (1.5 years ago) and generally enjoyed the experience. Since I joined my comp has gone up ~13% and I’ve liked my project teams but in my most recent review talk my partner told me he thought I was ready to be promoted and had advocated for me but there was an HR rule against it and I was on-track to be promoted in 6 months. Since then I’ve learned that one of my classmates (started 2-3 months before me due to COVID) was promoted last cycle.

EY High Deductible Health Plan vs Open Access Select (don’t have EY bowl access yet) I just started at the firm and am trying to pick my healthcare. I don’t really ever go to the Dr so I’m thinking of getting the High Deductible plan. My question is, what does it mean that it’s not a “national network (Is this a national network?: No)” but it’s “network coverage: see any licensed doctor”? Those seem to contradict. Also HSA vs FSA, as a healthy 26yo, which is right for me (High D only has HSA)

I studied SCM in college but I’ve been working through tech implementations on the ptp side for about 4 years now - it’s been all indirect client work though and no supply chain. How tough is it to pivot to more process and supply chain based strategy projects - do I need to get my mba. At a smaller firm now and feel like I’d have to jump to an Accenture to actually have the ability to do that kind of work (logistics and trade optimization, planning, manufacturing)
