Quick networking during covid Q-
I’m thinking about lateraling to a new city that I’ve been living in since covid (working remotely for my current firm). I’d like to network with local attorneys. I’ve identified some distant connections (basically strangers with common background) that would be good targets. I’m fully vaccinated, and my city/state has covid fairly controlled (because folks are relatively cautious). Is it appropriate to suggest an in-person meeting or will I look bad?

My basic thought is to say something like “Hey, we went to the same LS, how about an informational interview? I’m fully vaccinated and can meet in person if you’d like, but I’m also happy to do a phone call or zoom”
Will this approach make me look stupid/imprudent/rude?

like

No. I think that’s perfect. At the end of the day, people will take responsibility for their own health. You’ve given them a choice and if they aren’t comfortable with in person, you’ve got zoom. Best of luck with networking in a new city. My advice is put yourself out there as much as you can and don’t turn down a coffee. You’ll be surprised how quickly you’ll build your network (I’ve moved country and city before).

Ok so. I have been on this journey for almost a year now to try and 'get to know and love myself' and I'm not there yet. I separated from my ex in March of 2020 and divorce was finalized in October 2020. I'm still sad, lost, angry etc. I'm trying/tried therapy, meditation, ayurveda, self help videos, books, but I'm not happy with myself and I don't think I know myself. I want to be happy alone before I meet anyone new. Any tips or advice on how I can effectively accomplish this? Thank you!

Boutique transactional practice. Firm is growing post-COVID. Things are at risk of falling through the cracks. I need an easy way to track matters for status reports with colleagues in the firm without remaking the wheel.

Suggestions?

Anyone use Hodinkee for insurance? I’ve been with Jewelers Mutual for a long time, never had to file a claim (the true test), but I’m annoyed with their requests for updated appraisals. It sounds like Hodinkee is more automated, any good though? I don’t see why I should get a banged up Panerai re-appraised, just want simple coverage.

Going back to work Jan 4 and my 3 month old won’t take a bottle. We’ve tried since she was 1.5 months and she just holds the bottle nipple in her mouth but she doesn’t suck.

For now, I’m ok with breastfeeding while working, but just in case with meetings and whatnot, it’d just be awesome if my husband could feed her.

Any advice? Is it possible to get baby on a feeding schedule that I could just put on my Google calendar as “pumping” time?

Our baby is due soon so we’ve made the decision that we will only have visits from vaccinated family members (not realizing it would be an issue) only to find out that my Dad will never be getting vaccinated, planned to lie about it AND asked other family members lie to us about his vaccination status too… when we found out and asked him about it, he started to FREAK out. Now I’m questioning if we’re being unreasonable… how have you guys been handling unvaccinated people meeting your newborns??

I just found out I’m pregnant with no. 3 and it’s been a lot trying to juggle morning sickness, but based on my experience, I know this is only the tip of the iceberg of what’s to come. My husband and I are elated, but the anxiety of being a mom of 3 kids and working in big law is preventing me from truly enjoying this news. It would be good to know what it’s really like having 3 kids so that I can evaluate how long I really have left in big law.

Had a my 7 week ultrasound today, confirming I’m PREGNANT after my second medicated IUI!!!! So happy to have heard that heartbeat. There were some oddities on the ultrasound- wondering if any of you have experienced any/all of these and how it worked out (doc didn’t sound alarms, just said we’d keep an eye, but naturally I’m worried):
1. Grapefruit sized cyst on right ovary 2. Unknown object with no heartbeat (maybe a hematoma) in the gestational sac with my baby 3. An empty gestational sac
