Quick question. Air India freq flyer vs United MileagePlus.

Is it better for parents to accrue miles on United or Air India? They live in India but fly to US and other countries. Which program is better at accruing miles for global flights and redemption for India flights.

One added advantage of united is that miles don't expire. Appreciate the insights.
