I get that Meta beats the market in terms of comp, but honestly most people I know wouldn't work there these days. Amazon doesn't have rep problems but seems to have lost it's 2010's luster. Netflix is finally facing legit competition after years of domination. Google and Apple are great but are huge now. What's the next generation of FAANG?

Any strategies for trying to change a legal department culture that functions primarily by jumping from fire to fire? This is reflective of the broader company’s approach so to a certain extent I’m fighting an uphill battle/bound to it, but I’m finding any middle- or longer-term initiative eventually gets pushed to the back of the pile.

Can in house counsel do contract work/ consultant work / have their own legal consulting business while employed in house ?

If you had opportunity to involuntarily pivot to an up-and-coming area of law, would you do so even though you have built up your experience in another area? I will no longer working in my area of expertise but employer will provide training and I may need to go down a level or two to reflect my lack of experience. Or should I just look for a new employer and continue working in the area I know I enjoy doing? Mid-40s, appx 10yrs experience in my area.

My first week in-house as a seasoned professional in a specialized area of law, learning that we have a totally unnecessary process in place, which was set up by my boss, a European attorney allegedly well versed in our specialized area of law. How do I delicately inform that “the process you set up and team you hired to do X is based on a misunderstanding of the law. You don’t have to do X. You can do Y instead, which is what everyone else does, it’s easy and free & doesn’t require a team.”
