Experienced here. But went from analyst to senior analyst mid year. Then was promoted to consultant that same year end.

No rules for experienced hire, for new hire - 1.5 to 2 years
I was hired as analyst in April 2014. Made consultant in December 2015.

I have an MD who I've developed a great relationship with as my career counselor. In my first two projects, I focused on aiding the project to be successful in any way possible, modifying my role temporarily to assist others that needed help. This drive for TEAM success catches the eye of leadership because it shows that you're willing to step outside of your comfort zone. Note: this is not something you should focus on doing once you specialize your skill set later in your career
