Hi, I am looking for a job due being laid off. I have experience working with ServiceNow as an end user with my previous company. Would that be enough to get a job with ServiceNow?
I was fired today. What do I do next? I’m a third year associate at a “boutique” firm. Although I knew my performance wasn’t good and I was on thin ice, I was never given any formal warning, so I was caught off guard when they called me and just fired me, effective immediately. I was locked out of the email and computer system before the call was over, and I’m already off the website. I was so caught off guard I hardly remember the conversation (cont)
So... Layoffs in Europe, eh? Well at least they're being honest about those, instead of the layoffs in the US they've covered up.
I read to the kids a book that ended with a line like, "If it was a good story, start all over."I told the kids I really only did that once in my life regarding a book about a teacher going to teach in Africa. In reality it was about a missionary. I hid the name of it and what it really was about. In other instances I've also explained the meaning of life is to love sacrificialy without telling them the source. I feel guilty hiding the Truth. How do you speak the Truth without being fired?
I’m finding it harder to maintain work/life balance these days. I feel pressured to take on all work coming my way to prove my worth and reduce chances I’m laid off. This isn’t sustainable. Wwyd?
Got fired from Accenture (at an analyst Level brought in as an experienced hire) 6 months ago, and haven’t been able to find a job since. Any guidance or ideas on what I should do?
One of the primary aims of the criminal justice reform movement is to help ex-convicts re-enter the workforce by sealing criminal records, and making it more difficult for employers to judge applicants based on criminal history. The idea is that people are redeemable and capable of reform. Yet the same movement thoroughly enjoys getting people fired and publicly shaming them for making arguments they find “offensive”. A rapist is capable of reform, but not someone who makes a dumb tweet. Got it.
So Uber layoffs have started. Uber subsidiary Careem to let go 31% of it’s staff. Sad state of affairs... https://blog.careem.com/en/securing-careem-through-these-uncertain-times/
Saw this on LI, thought it was applicable to many of the posts I've seen about how PwC/D are trying to deny layoffs and say the separations are performance-based. http://www.forbes.com/sites/lizryan/2016/06/07/my-performance-review-was-outstanding-and-then-i-got-fired/#6227cb81746a
How do layoffs at EY work? I've heard of people being laid off...will there be more? Is it region by region or just an overall national thing? I'm a staff 1 and not sure how this all works
Just saw the first person in my group to get promoted last week and then fired this week... Looks like we are still on the chopping block. Also fs, NYC, risk
How long do firms typically let people stay on payroll after notifying them of being laid off?
What’s the difference between lay off and getting fired? Neither because of misconduct or serious performance issues?
Does anyone work at capital one as a business analyst? What tips do you have for someone trying to break in? Would you be willing to get on the phone with me and provide some advice based on my background? I just got laid off and really would like to make the pivot
Advice for moving from transactional to entertainment litigation? I graduated from law school in 2018 and practiced transactional entertainment for about 1.5 yrs. until I was laid off due to the pandemic. It’s now been a full yr. of unemployment and I have no idea how to make the move given my circumstance.
Is there anyone that is teaching from home and your students have returned to school? How did you get permission to do that and how does that work with kids in the classroom? I am guessing there has to be an adult in the room while the students are in there but is there another teacher during their planning or do you have to get a sub? Our reentry has been delayed and I am working with HR to try and stay home while students aren’t there but it looks like I’m going to have to take some Parental Leave once students do return because there is not a plan otherwise.
Last Thanksgiving I lost my shit at a partner for setting a deadline on Thanksgiving Day but then told me he couldn’t review it because he had to “spend time with his family.” Screw that asshole.
Starting on my journey to sobriety today from sex addiction. I’ve been clean from alcohol for several years but my therapist has pushed me to start attending AA meetings in addition to SAA meetings. I know I can’t overcome this alone.
Anyone ever leave for a startup? Would you do it all over again? What were the stock options you received?

Is it a bad sign when partners are billing more than associates and doing work that’d normally be delegated down? It’s starting to really annoy me
@Deloitte/Pwc folks: Do you need to work a certain amount of time at the firm before being eligible for parental leave?
Has anyone made it into the industry of data science and find that the work is really not for them? Finding the data work to be a bit too hands on and technical for my likings. I can do the work adequately, but just not finding it as pleasurable as I’d initially thought
Any midlevels here? How often do you screw up? And how bad? Still new as a lateral and partners don't want to review anything, so keep screwing up. Also so busy, so hard to keep track of everything and have time not to screw up. Anyone in the same boat? 😔
Does anyone work in a Big 4 office in the Bay Area? I’m currently at a V5 law firm doing M&A tax, and the hours are absolutely killing me. I’m curious about the hours and pay at the Big 4 here.
