Quitting tomorrow... should I say my last day is Monday, Nov 30 so I get the thanksgiving holiday? Feels fair after everything I've gone through. Don't need insurance coverage, hence why I don't do dec 1.

Honestly I’ll think they will laugh at you if you give notice, and your last day is a after a 4-day weekend. It’s just kind of childish to even ask for it. Sorry 🤷🏼‍♂️

like

It’s unlikely to be up to you

like

Would they benefit from you staying longer? If not they’ll probably end sooner. Wouldn’t make sense if your last day was Nov 30 esp if you get Thanksgiving/day after off. May need to offer to stay until Dec 4th if you want the holidays.

like

Depends on company - some cheapos will term you the day before 🦃 day

likeuplifting

Just stay til the 4th unless you have some pressing reason to get out early. That’s what I’m doing. Gives you insurance coverage for the month (which I know you said you don’t need) and raises less eyebrows re holidays

So what did you do?

like

Do you!!!!

They could say don’t come back. So you may get an extended vacation

You can also not quit and just work 2 jobs thru slow season and collect 2 paychecks until it gets busy.

This runs the risk of getting you fired from both jobs

Am I too old? Too old to chase a wild dream of living in a beach town? Too old to follow a hunch? Too old to sell everything and start over somewhere else? Some days I feel like I am. With parents in failing health and a grandpa that is lonely most of the time, I feel obligated to stay here. To keep living the life that “makes sense”. I’m 32 single, no kids, own my home, essentially have life by the tail. I live an hour from where I grew up. Feel like I don’t fit in with my friends anymore…

Need some vacation advice. I’m at an all-inclusive that was billed as “luxury”, but food and service are mediocre, the resort is run down, and we’ve had mult instances with other guests making drunken scenes. My wife and I have been doing the all-inclusive route for a while now and I think we’ve come to the conclusion that we need to just go to an expensive, pay as you go resort to get the food, service, and higher caliber of guests. Suggestions on such a place? Carribean preferred. Thanks.

I'm exhausted. Our district has scripted everything we do in a classroom--very little wiggle room to slow down when we need to. Kids feel like they're in prison; teachers are deflated. If it isn't a curriculum that's so tight kids and teachers can't keep up, there's the district progress monitoring tests and debriefs that have taken up to 5 days of instruction time--another reason things are so tight. I'm very happy to be retiring in the spring. My 10 hour school days are done.

How to deal with not being staffed on deals and seeing others in your year be staffed? When asking partners directly for work, they refer you to the staffing partners. When asking staffing partners (repeatedly), they say “thanks for interest, we will have something soon.” Weeks and weeks pass by and you’re always below where you should be for billable hours (at this point, very far below). All reviews are essentially perfect and no negative feedback. Extremely frustrating and discouraging.
