Yes. Or at least be drinking in a swimsuit ready to jump in if anybody starts drowning.

We were invited to one recently. My son didn’t end up getting in the pool and played in the inflatable water slide instead. I brought my suit just in case.
Rising Star
At that age absolutely. Different families have different risk tolerances but 4 year olds needing close supervision in the pool should be something 100% of families agree on.
All day everyday... you gotta be ready to have fun with your kid in the water and jump in, & put your phone away, it's not a bring your kid to work day... I see that alot.. water can be serious..we have to get better at focusing our attention on our kids..
Yes
Typically at least one parent gets in. We've gone to a handful of those over the past year and my wife and I usually trade off who gets in with the kiddo.
Sometimes families that host parties like that will have a life guard on hand. But they still need parent oversight
Thanks all! Appreciate it
they will probably hire a private life guard to be safe so you will be fine not going in lol
That's pretty darn rare in my experience, at least in the Pointes in MI, McLean, VA and Great Falls VA. Been a little longer since Palo Alto and it did happen out there, but it was usually just a 16 year old kid.
I pick up a few pairs of water wings for the season.
Absolutely. You are responsible for watching your child like a hawk at a pool party. (I’m not joking).
At that age, I was never at a party without a lifeguard AND also parents in pool or sitting on the edge ready to get in if needed. That said, a girl died at a pool party at my gym with lifeguards and family members so keep your eyes on your kid at all times
