Random question...but how do you all count the year you are - based on when you graduated or when you were admitted? I graduated in 2018 but due to NY pro bono hours requirement, I wasn't admitted until end of 2019. I was hired as an associate right out of law school...I just dk what year I count as lol

Based upon when I started working and then I “move up” when I get my yearly raise in January. So I would say you’re a second year.

That! You’re a first year for 16 months at my firm until January (17 months later) when you get your first raise and when the real first year starts for the folks who just started.

I go based on my work experience and history. Due to a miserable job, I left my first position without my second lined up. It was 6 months at job one, two and a half years at job two, so I started job three as a fourth year in my mind, and 15 months later I’m a 5th year (with a quarter of that under my belt).

Related random question... if I clerked for two years, do those count? So am I a first year or third year after my first full year in private practice?

Attorney 1, I'd say being a law clerk as opposed to a judicial law clerk doesn't count.

First firm counted by bar admission year, which punished me for having to retake once. Current firm counts by graduation year, though a couple clients still raise a minor stink about admission year.

My in-house team at an international organization is quickly looking for a few remote freelancers with over 4 years experience to fill out our team: art directors with design experience, information designers, digital designers, illustrators, ux designers and print designers. DM me for more information.

What's the best way to gain visibility by those holding 3-4 positions higher than you? I like learning from them and growing mentorships but can't break the AE-level wall with my responsibilities. Being remote also makes it harder to interact. I'm on the client/business side but would love to hear anyone's thoughts.

The firm is boutique but it is owned by the largest broker in the world so great brand name in the insurance world
