No one really would ask that question unless there is something else about the person wearing it that made the person asking the question that it could be a legit question.

Hit em with the Joe Burrow "I make too much money for it to be fake" LOL
No, but I’ve had multiple people ask me how much it cost, which I think is really awkward.
Rising Star
It was a gift. Every single time.
Nobody has ever asked me that

Most people don’t really notice watches, but nobody has ever asked if mine is real. It’s a bit of a backhanded question - the person asking is implying that (a) you don’t have the means to purchase a real one and/or (b) you’re insecure/dishonest and trying to deceive others with a fake representation of yourself.
But again, I feel like that question is influenced a little by social circles/socioeconomic status and a perception of whether the wearer could afford it - if you see a huge diamond engagement ring on someone’s finger in a high end restaurant or at a country club, you’re probably not going to wonder if it’s legit whereas maybe it would raise some eyebrows on someone working at a supermarket or driving for Uber.

I say yes it and my three others are fakes too. So is my targa gts.

No but someone wearing a sub asked which Rolex my bb58 was 🤣. All hopes of sharing an interest in watches died with one question
Classic 😬

Once and I just ignored that person 😂.
I got that when I was younger (had a Rolex in college). No one really asks anymore. No one notices what I’m wearing anyway. If they do, it’s “how long did you have to wait?”

I had the “is your GS real” conversation with a buddy this week when he found out I had to buy my GS from Asia.
Honestly I was worried at first that maybe “passable fake Grand Seikos don’t exist” was a myth, but pretty sure it isn’t.
What I realized was that it’s the only 5Hz true GMT in production. They’re not going to steal a GS movement to put in a fake GS case. Even if there are other ones, it would only be from a high end manufacturer. There isn’t an Seagull / ETA / Miyota option to use in a fake.
Nah. In my social circle pretty much everyone can afford a rolex and/or knows I like watches.
I've never had a random stranger ask me about my watch unless they were watch people.

Thanks Meta, it’s basically a copy of the ref 6204 which was the first ever submariner. I think the old school big crown subs were awesome.
I think the ref 6538, which is the one Bond wore in the first several films, is the nicest looking submariner of all. It’s this same style but with the Mercedes handset instead of pencil hands. The lollipop tipped seconds hand on this one sucks for precise timing but looks really neat in motion.

9 out of 10 times no one notices or mentions anything. Curiously, I’ve gotten the most compliments from random people on my Explorer 1, and they’ll just say “nice watch”. Not even sure they realize it’s a Rolex (not that that really matters anyway in the grand scheme of things).
“Nice Seiko!” Probably is though
Just have to smile and nod
Rising Star
Exactly haha - it is a Seiko. But whats the point? It’s a damn good watch - end of story.

Yeah I own a sub and Daytona and the 2 questions I get the most are “is that a real rolex” and “how much did it cost you”
Visual Storyteller
What they’re trying to say is: you look like a broke piece of shit, so I want to confirm if that’s actually real…

😂😂happened again last night when I was out for dinner.

Ohh yes🙌
No one has ever asked me that question.
