Just tried out the Apple Fitness +, loving it so far. The Apple Watch integration makes the exercises feel more customized to you. Wish this was out during the earlier days of covid! You don’t need equipment to use it, but if you get a cheap bike or compact treadmill from Amazon, it’s will be way cheaper that peloton. 🍎🎄🍎
Covid sucked but I didn’t let it stop me from living. Met the love of my life and now getting married. Started two bad ass side hustles, got more fit and discovered peace thru Yoga/meditation. Also, quit drinking, two months now. Moral of the story, nothing changes if nothing changes.
How frequently should one expect or advocate for a raise at a small firm? I moved to a new firm (about ten lawyers) about two and a half years ago. After my first year I got a 20% raise following a brief and exclusively positive performance review. Its been about 17 months since then and silence. I have the general sense that the firm struggled a little financially during COVID and I don't want to seem ungrateful or greedy, but apparently the firm is doing well enough to hire more associates.

What do you all do to make non-professional / personal connections? Particularly with the Coronavirus, and being in domestic relations, I wake up, go to work, work out, go home. So outside of law, my interactions with people are only at the gym given that my area is draining— particularly at the moment. Probably a good thing for now; but if we take coronavirus out of the equation, I’m interested what others in the community do to develop personal connections.
Dog owners beware. Well maybe ... https://scitechdaily.com/are-dogs-spreading-sars-cov-2-study-finds-living-with-a-dog-increases-risk-of-contracting-covid-19/
I live in New Jersey and learned the State has granted Immunity for Malpractice claims regarding any COVID diagnosis or treatment, has anyone else been granted such a reprieve?
What is the best objective source for determining whether to get the COVID 19 vaccine? Looking for sources and raw data and documentaries. I’m not looking for opinions I am looking for references to a variety of medical authorities. I have masked up this whole time but admittedly have not done any research other than what I heard in the news. So now I plan to approach this as an objective question to answer like I would any thoroughly researched legal question.
Anyone has idea, how many Coronavirus packages and bailouts are left to keep the good news coming and keep the markets inflated?
What’s the best single watch winder? COVID makes it tough wearing my watch all day... not looking for luxury, just something quality and a good value.
Why does everyone put Tech / FAANG on such a pedestal, claiming it’s better than MBB. Sure, the comp and WLB may be better, but you won’t be doing as meaningful and impactful work e.g. Govt Covid response, Gates foundation projects, industry defining projects in the space of a few months etc
Has anyone travelled to the US recently? If so- were you able to use the $40 COVID test at Shoppers as a negative test to cross the border? I’m considering going for a long weekend at the end of the month but trying to sort out the covid-related logistics.
Last Sunday I flipped out after 5 months at home. I went on a shopping spree at the mall and spent $2000 in an hour and came back home (avoiding exposure to COVID, folks). Now I have new clothes but nowhere to go. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.
How are other districts compensating you for working over your contracted time? I’m not taking just over. I’m taking about 13+ hour work days, every day.
Enjoy this love fest Cuomo GMA interview by Amy Robach, praising his COVID response. At the end, her co-anchor goes, “You ask the tough questions.”
Commemorative coins with “Trump Beat Covid” or something like that, being sold for $100 in the WH gift shop....😂😂😂😂😂 https://www.whitehousegiftshop.com/product-p/trump-defeats-covid.htm
“It just stresses me out-having ALL women on this project. It’s not even a gender thing. It just... if anything it‘d be MORE sexist to keep the team “as-is” simply BECAUSE you’re all women, you know?"
When you track your travel expenses, do you include booked (and paid) travel for NEXT year as a current year expense or a next-year expense? I have separate excel workbooks for 2021 and 2022 but am curious what the norm is!
I absolutely hate EY’s Fidelity 401k. Deloitte’s Vanguard answers the phone the moment you call. Meanwhile Fidelity I’ve been on hold for 20min+ and this is every time I call.
Sales Engineer to Client Partner , do you guys think it is a step up or down or about the same level ? Currently a SE and received an offer for Client Partner with a different company and thinking will my career progress with this move or is it just a parallel step ? Any inputs will be great.
Tips on practicing for a case on your own? My first one and I’m nervous - especially the numbers part. Do I have to memorize a bunch or random stats? Have a 45 min interview with a small firm.
My sister is undergrad senior living by herself with health issues (gaining weight, etc) and borderline depression. She recognizes weight gain & mental health. Parents aren’t helpful. I offer (cont’d)
Can anyone provide feedback on how to get a cheap / great prices for a rental car this weekend?
How do you signal to FAANG companies to look at your LinkedIn profile? Only get other consulting firms viewing it/ reaching out for ops.
My firm sent an email yesterday saying their tracking billable hours DAILY. It’s either they don’t think we’re working from home or about to have some layoffs 🤷🏼♀️
What are some atypical interview questions you’ve asked or been asked? The one that caught me most off guard, though an easy answer was, “What would you do if you weren’t doing advertising?”
Has everyone ever done a sustainability consulting project? What are the key market leaders in this space? I’m super interested.
In Tech at D. Over my past 4 projects they seem to really burn us into the ground overwork us. Is that just my bad experience? Other Big 4 have a similar issue?
Anyone else tired of the assumption that because you’re a partner you have to think a certain way and believe certain things. I’m talking about wokeness, work from home, and the recent ever constant pushing of the needle to the left or risk getting “cancelled”. I’m fairly liberal politically so for me to be saying this I think may say something for the current climate. I should be able to hold and express my own opinions without being quashed because I’m not “woke” enough.
If you are not married or without your own family, would you move back with your parents if you have been laid off? Or would you dip into savings / unemployment to keep the lights on?
Are these positive signs during the final round interview with the big boss i had today? 1) asked for my timeline and when i can start the earliest, 2) listed all the political challenges the team is facing today and neighboring teams that are difficult to work with. Am i over-reading?
ACA or ACCA?
Fucked up and forgot to cancel my Westin hotel booking when I was told to be remote this week. Got charged for one night. Can anything be done?
