I will use any tip. I kind of prefer the chisel tip but don’t really care as long as it writes. I prefer black to the colors because especially blue and green don’t wipe off as easily as black. However, I write on the smart board more than the white boards. I have trouble sometimes forming nice neat letters and numbers but since we have them, it is less wasteful to use them.

I love colors so I buy white board markers all the time. Chisel tip is easiest to find, so that’s what I use. The line is thicker though so it’s more easily seen. Especially this year when every kid in class can’t see the board. What are the odds that I got every kid in school who has vision problems???

Those are super tempting! I too would love a purple! I also have an aqua color that I love.

I still have a chalkboard!!! I love it!!!

I may have the very last chalkboard in school! The kids love it. It’s retro.

Your post reminded me of when when I was in school… 6th grade, Mr. Jenson. That man could throw an eraser!!! Not at me but one day he got my my neighbor square between the eyes!!! I was petrified!!! I can still smell the chalk dust 😂

I prefer bullet tip but we are only provided with chisel tip at school. (I actually write on the Smartboard more than the white board, though)

I prefer the chisel-tip markers - they are excellent to showing off our calligraphic penmanship😃

Since we are doing random thoughts, I have been pushing into classrooms. Some classrooms have their whiteboards completely covered with posters and other things, no where to even draw! I’m assuming they only use their smart boards now. I also prefer the pointy tips for drawing. I only use chisel tips for the back of the class to see a thick line better.

I found out that smart boards have a whiteboard feature. Touchscreen has to be enabled in order to use it.

I have to splurge on markers, because color coding works with lessons I’m so used to it and I’m tired of writing in red, blue or black. Chisel tip! it’s about that angle you decide write 🤣 with gives it character bullet I have to write vrticle to look nice.

Our smart board is in the center of the whiteboard...which seems to be common so I can't really use it to teach. I miss having 2 whiteboards in my room. My students use the markers more than I do and I prefer them to have the chisel tip because they aren't as easy to smash. 😒

Do you ever use cursive on the board or print only? Any tips on writing neatly on the board? Do you hold it a certain way. I have to take my time so it will be legible.

There are students that cannot read cursive or block print (all capitals). At times, I have asked for a student volunteer to write on the board (I dictate). Some kids just love the movement opportunity.

I am very OCD, especially about my boards. I can’t let students write on them, and I can’t have anything other than black marker. Enter: Journalism I. They are responsible for producing the weekly newspaper page. I have had to get over that thing that keeps me from letting kids write in blue. I’ve given the paper one full board, as keeping track of who’s writing what is their process.

Prefer odorless markers.

Shockingly, we don’t have smart boards in our district or in the district where I formerly worked. Seems to me like we are technologically out of the loop! 🤷🏻‍♀️

Do you have smart TVs? Now they are talking that the Smart boards are outdated and to go with TVs!😬

So! As many of you begin to prepare for a return to school, I prepare to exit the classroom with Friday being my last teacher workday as I switch careers. I guess I wanted to say that I wish you all well and the best of luck. I hope mental health becomes a focus going forward. I hope that teachers can be at the center of decisions instead of everything always being for the students. Martyrdom should not be expectation and it is my hope that you all get held to reasonable standards. You matter

How do I respond to an observation score of a II in an area where I feel the score was unwarranted? I scored III in all other areas. The score was a II because I had students working on Google Classroom & was finishing up emails before I transitioned into the classroom reading. It’s the week before midterms, and I have duty for 20 minutes of my 50-minute planning period in 1st. I have to respond to these emails in a timely manner & all students were working diligently on the first assignment.

This person started the discussion from the angle that Black people have “misconceptions” - which plays into the narrative that we are too dumb to evaluate the info and land on a decision which is right for us.
