Not at all. I don’t plan to have kids but I want that gay luxury lifestyle (high rise living with amenities, extravagant vacations). I’m also saving more for retirement as I anticipate paying for my own longterm care when I’m too old to care for myself - and I want hot young male nurses taking care of me in an LGBTQ long term care facility. That ain’t cheap.

❤️ @D1, yeah same idea for me unfortunately. But in the end, IDK, I always ask myself is quitting when something is hard also worthwhile? Every job in capitalism is tough and demanding to be honest. At some point, a merger or acquisition happens and everything needs to continually be optimized for more profit. For that reason, I am not out of consulting. Plus, I’m a masochist (at work, not in bed).

I get both sides of the argument but I think I'm with you OP. I turned down an opportunity with KPMG earlier this year because I knew it would mean less work life balance even though financially it would be great for me and my BF. We're perfectly comfortable as is and would rather spend time together than apart because one person is working their tail off for a few pennies more...

Yeah, I think age might also be a factor here... 🧓🏾 I see my 20-30-something self in the opposing replies.

My dad was talking to my long term bf about setting life goals, and told him a story about a family friend whose wife had a large corporate job and her husband “was the stay at home mom” (said in a way that was clearly meant to be a dig at the husbands masculinity). My mom stayed home to raise me & my siblings, which ALLOWED my dad to work long hours/be successful. Anyone else face comments like this re: being female breadwinner/husband caring for children more than society expects?

Me and my wife moved to US in the last few years and recently had a baby. Both of us work in relatively stressful jobs. I am having conflicts with her on how to raise kids - my wife and mil don’t see daycare or nanny as viable options, and want to rely on grandparents from both sides to help with the same. They haven’t seen too many cases of children going to daycare in India in their family. Who else has faced this issue, and any thoughts on resolving the same? This is causing a strain b/w us.

4PQE. UK. Have been offered a job at another firm but they've only agreed to match my salary. I went back asking for more and have been sternly told that's not possible as I'm already being offered more than what their bandings allow. The new firm seems like it would be better for the sector I'm specialising in but anyone else I hear that moves tends to get a considerable payrise! I feel reluctant to move if I'm not getting a big pay jump... Is moving for the same pay a done thing?

I have a standing offer with Accenture (AFS). Due to coronavirus, the recruiter told me they are pausing staffing of external people like myself while they take care of internal people on the bench. My recruiter said he would touch base monthly during covid, but usually I’m the one to reach out to him. We haven’t spoken since mid March, so should I reach out? I totally understand if they’re still in the same position as before and nothing changed since mid March in terms of hiring.

Interviewed for Uber Strategy Manager- what a massive joke. Wouldn't tell me the comp on the first interview. Case studies are 3x the size of any other case study I've done for actual fortune 100 companies. And then interview with everyone and their mother, all who wax eloquent about my solutions. But then the last person gives me another case study to do. Towards the end, everyone and HR is giving me a verbal offer, telling me they're excited about me joining their team, I should join asap.
