Is Microsoft hiring freeze still going on? I attended interviews in June end for SDE opening in Azure & cleared it. Post which I got to know that the position went to on hold & dint hear back anything from HR. Do they even come back once the freeze is lifted? Does it make sense to wait?

Is it too late to get into PE for a 33year old male? I am currently a Senior Consultant and wondering if I should try to make the jump to the alternative investment world. Love my current job but what type of exit ops does private credit offer if you’re not on the investment team but the portfolio management side?

How common is it to give case studies to internal candidates? Wouldn’t the hiring manager only care about the candidate’s current job performance, and not their performance on a case study in a field that the candidate is currently not working in ?

Does middle / back office PE count as “pre-MBA” if I wanted to do that first -> MBA -> PE investing? Or is IB still likely required

From the outside, I always thought of PE firms to be well-oiled machines where everyone is working hard but with a clear purpose. Now starting at an LMM as a senior associate I feel kind of lost. It’s chaos - every person above me wants something else and there are constant discussions, bickering and politics being played. Is this representative of other (LMM?) PE firms, or did I get unlucky? It feels like a tech startup lol.

Honest thoughts on best qualifications to go after to break into PE from consulting - should I go after ACA/CFA/CAIA? I feel I’ve only got the patience to do one of these 😂
