When Wieden + Kennedy says “the work comes first”, how much more seriously do they mean that than the average elite creative agency? Like, I’m at a top-10 agency, but being a human comes first for me. Yes, I have high standards for my work, but not at the expense of my health or happiness. Is everyone at WK genuinely obsessed with their work and do they all live unhealthy, unbalanced lives? Or could someone with a pragmatic view of WLB actually do well there?

OP everyone here is unanimously saying you got her your life back. It doesn't matter if you are working 8 hrs or 18 hours, but if its stressing you out, you don't enjoy being with your team, and most important if you health is dipping, its time to rethink and adjust your priorities and job. You will do well only if you are somewhat happy and healthy, both of you which you are not.
Another SM here... 1st Talk to your M/SM today explain your symptoms I would be surprised if they don't tell you to immediately schedule an appointment at an urgent care facility nearby. 2nd schedule time w your counselor or a mentor this week explaining that you're getting burnt out and develop a strategy to address w current team and potentially develop transition plan to find another project.
Think about what you need to have a career that fulfills your needs and talk to your counselor about it. Changing service line or industry to align with local market opportunities may help (FSI in NYC, O&G in Houston, etc.)
Quit the job.its always health first .what will all the money and power bring if your health is not in place
Tap out, bro
Quit, life is too short to die over a shitty job
Need a job in industry
Go to the dr now! If you're spreading TB at the airport you'll be headline news
Blood in cough is highly likely to be a warning sign of health problem such as pneumonia. You should get your health checked asap to not spread it.
Thank you all for so much support. I am feeling better now. Have doctors appointment on friday. Not seen blood in cough after that night, so shoudln't be too bad. I told my lead about crazy workload- so now I am going to get an analyst whom I will delegate some work to (I am a SC). And I am taking a week off after next week. I love consulting hence not planning to move to industry anytime soon. I am 29 (someone asked). Also talked to client. Going to limit travel to only two weeks per month(50%) for some time. And yes, some of you may be able to deliver quality work for working 12 hrs everyday and on weekends. I am not that guy. Looks like my ears need some balancing, PwC5 suggested grommets/tubes. Will take TNT appointment soon for that. D17 emphasized on exercise. I love swimming and have been lazy for last few weeks, but I'll start swimming again. I am really humbled to see so much support and care from you all. Wish there was a way to meet you all in person and thank you. Stay healthy. take care!
Health first good ol' boy! Always health first!
12 hours is a half day
Also, talk to someone. When I had issues with my work/life at deloitte and told them I would need to leave, my partner/team asked what they'd need to do to get me to stay. I said less travel. They listened
@Senior Manager 1 - you are the problem.
Please take some time off.. In the end no job is worth you health and family
Deloitte is not worth any of that. Time to leave.
Gonna Echo P4 - GO SEEK MEDICAL HELP FOR BLOODY COUGH
What worried me is the blood in cough. If it's true, go to the hispital yesterday!!! giod vibe to you my friend
We are your Fishbowl fan! See a dr and get out of this business.
That travel schedule blows but is a 12 hour day actually exceptional? That seems like a very light day for me. Is this common at your firms??
It's time for a job in industry
Quit. Your life, happiness and family is important than a job that sucks your blood
Get ear grommets/tubes. Best decision I've made. Takes 90 seconds per ear, you'll feel better nearly instantly.
