Financial Advisors

Raymond James or LPL...biggest goals are more flexibility with regard to marketing/branding, more autonomy and higher payout...in that order. And go!

Agree with FA1. Left EJ after 17 years and ended up at RJFS solo with my admin team. Almost 3 years in looking to grow advisors to help with exploding book. Happy but wish I’d left years ago now. RJ isn’t perfect but what place is. The word I hear from other advisors that transferred from other firms to RJ is that their new home is much better.

A bit of both helped by being recharged and basically doing a reverse goodnight on the way out that freed up time and energy. I think 75% is a better number to use.

Want to co brand with a recognizable name or not? I had the same goals and went to RJFS. Very happy after the initial shock and awe.

How did you guys navigate your lock down non compete contract?

It’s non-solicit not non-compete. Called informed clients of my transition and shut up. They naturally start asking questions and you can legally answer them. I was FB and/or LinkedIn connected to every client I wanted to txfr so they saw my posts with all my information. Many called me from those asking what we needed to do to txfr.

It doesn’t say I can’t contact them — it says I can’t solicit them. Big difference b

I left Jones and joined RJFS in 2015 and as FA2 above described it, did a “Reverse Goodnight”. Less than half the households now, but significantly more assets and revenue. As far as RJ vs. LPL, I know lots of unhappy advisors at LPL looking to move, or that have recently moved. Ron Caron, their top advisor, left LPL about two years ago, along with all the advisors in his network. RJ isn’t perfect, but most of the advisors are really happy. I also recently partnered with another RJ advisor (former Jones) and we now have a firm that helps advisors get established and transition to RJ, while handling their supervision, and providing the same or better net payout than they would get it they joined RJ on their own. Let me know if you are interested in learning more.

How do you get over/prevent burnout? I can’t even take one day of PTO without feeling like I’m letting my whole team down. Even when I’m not technically assigned to something. I am having such a hard time being productive because I haven’t stopped in 4+ months. Help ☹️

Interviewing at a tech comp. Role is lateral, but title is “Principal”. Honestly never heard of this title before as my career is on the agency side. Is this title a resume killer as currently a CD?
