Read through earlier threads about transitioning to/founding a startup. Are there any consultants who were part of a startup in their earlier careers? How do your consulting lives compare with that?

I was an early hire (#8) at an enterprise payments startup. The highs were incredibly high and the lows... well low. My compensation would’ve been amazing if my stock options amounted to anything :)

I miss the unknown part of it most and the feeling that any day I could dramatically change the course of the entire business. That’s definitely different from a project based consultant role coming

in on a narrower scope in much larger corporations. Oddly my work life balance is better now, but passion and drive is lower. I do think a startup is something every one should try at least once

I started a company 7 months ago.. Even though most of my weekends and nights are dedicated to the startup, I don't give a shit.. Running your own biz feels so right

Anyone have thoughts about moving from underwriting to a distribution / marketing role? My personal worry is that marketing would be the first to go back if the company took a downturn.

Hi,

I am a qualitative primary researcher with 3 years of experience on agency side. Given thr hectic work culture of agencies, I've already reached burnout and am seeking a change in my career path.

Can anyone recommend a career path that can offer some level of work life balance?

Is UI/UX research a good path to explore?

Lead nurturing is about follow-up, follow-up, follow-up.

The goal is to stay in front of your opportunities in a way that portrays the value of your product/service rather than annoyance.

A good lead nurturing program matches the buying timeline of every opportunity whether that be a week, month, or a year.

A study done by Insidesales shows that 50% of sales happen AFTER the 5th touch. Not all opportunities are ready to buy right away, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t worth pursuing.

What Easter eggs have you hidden in ads?

When I was in college I would photoshop my bands logo onto random people’s shirts in our magazines. I used to have a secret symbol (a misshaped circle) that I would hide in the student newspaper for my girlfriend at the time. I was just edgy.
