But when I have coffee or Modafinil I feel I’m better at it. And I also am aware of the time (as in I check it intermittently) I’m completely lost on time on stimulants.
So how on earth do you survive on projects where you need to read dense text?! 😂 I’ve gotten away with it because of remote work but I’m really worried for my next in-office job
Breaking it down instead of seeing it as one big mass helps me. Use natural breaks like paragraphs or sections and read just a few at a time. Pause and let yourself take a break after each chunk if you want. Usually I find that as I go on and get more into the text, I need to pause less and less.
Oh, and I don’t find this has anything to do with stimulants, just adhd.
No it’s the opposite for someone with ADD- the stimulant allows you to focus on the content…so not sure why you’re experiencing that. Perhaps your dosage is off or your not having a positive reaction to the drug group (eg if you’re on Ritalin try adderall)
When I’m on concerta actually I destroy docs like this. Unless it’s super technical and I don’t understand it (like a law paper), I usually can just sit and zone in and kill it in one or two sittings. If my phone and distractions are away all of a sudden this boring ass document is the most stimulating thing going on
Don’t force yourself to do the impossible. Skim it and get what you need.
That isn’t a stimulant issue. That’s an ADHD issue. Be fair to yourself

Yes! I find that I’m always skimming at the surface while reading on stimulants. I don’t really process or synthesize it

Ok but I feel like I can’t succeed as a strat consultant with this :/

Absolutely

I see, honestly I can’t say I’ve ever had to read multi day docs. That sucks
