At what point do public accounting firms, especially the partners and the senior leadership realize the industry has a major problem on their hands with the number of accounting graduates dwindling every year and record exodus from the industry given the mismatch on stagnated pay vs the amount of work expected to be done? Are they really that oblivious to think outsourcing to India is going to solve all of their problems? No one is willing to have a real conversation.

I see too many threads on here about cheating, thinking you’re settling for your partner, etc. Can this be a thread for positive relationship examples / stories? Need more of that rn

For B4 equity partner/principals- how do put a value on pension in terms of annual replacement cost and years invested? In conversations with a public firm and need to put a line in the sand for offer

Received a verbal offer from a recruiter congratulating me on clearing the final round. However did not receive a written offer or what the TC package would look like. They have started the right to work checks and the investments / pension plan declaration. Is this normal? Should I send across any documents or wait for the written offer to come through (not even sure if the terms offered would be favourable!!)?

Just in case anyone is in a financial pickle... if you really need to pull cash you can pull your Roth IRA CONTRIBUTIONS without tax penalty. Granted it’s not a great idea to pull from your retirement, but if you’re in a bad enough spot, know it’s an option. You can always make more contributions later when you’re in a better position but don’t pull earnings because you’ll pay taxes on that. (Unsure if this is truly good advice so I’m also curious about everyone’s thoughts please)

Should I refinance my mortgage if I’m concerned I might be laid off? I know the loan wouldn’t close if I’m laid off before signing, but asking from future forbearance perspective. Would the new lender not grant forbearance/hardship on a brand new loan if I need to request it shortly after closing? Are there typically payment history requirements that would make a new loan ineligible?
