Typically paid company leave and FMLA will run concurrently. An employee might be unqualified for protected FMLA and still qualify for the paid company leave. At my company we still consider the paid leave “protected”, even if the employee does not qualify for FMLA.
I don’t think OP is asking about FMLA. Which is unpaid. Sounds like they are asking a tour STATE PAID LEAVE.
its included and most likely the minimum legal amount for the state you are operating in. unless you are in a big company and they offer an enhanced package. check your state's legal requirement.
Depends on how your policy is written
We have 12 weeks paid parental leave. For employees who are in states that have state paid family leave, we off set it pay wise. If the state is paying 60% of the salary we would pay them 40% to make them whole.
But it will run concurrently with the state leave.
For instance. Let’s use California as an example.
The employee is approved for California Paid Family Leave for 8 weeks. We would then allow them to take an additional 4 weeks of company Paid Parental Leave. 8+4=12
Does that help?
