Really looking for some genuine support and advice from you all out there. I want to switch careers from PA - Big4 Audit to completely different. I am not talking about going in industry or other accounting / finance related jobs. I am thinking on lines of getting some small franchise, flip houses, real estate agent, manager as Dunkin etc type of transition. I am okay not making big $. Please don’t say do what I am passionate about because clearly I don’t know what it is and I am in search of it

Same. Staying till manager is a trap.

I was an assistant manager at Dunkin Donuts for five years back in my school days. I actually enjoyed it. Talking to people all day, morning shifts go by quickly, you're out by 3pm. Make some people's day everyday (other people are just grumpy jerks). Learned a lot, didn't make nearly enough though. Maybe if it sounds interesting to you, you could try being a GM at a restaurant or something? Start as a waiter and work your way up on those tips?

Speaking from the other side, I switched from being an Emt to an accountant. We had alot of career changers from lawyers to finance guys becoming emts and paramedics and they loved it. If you dont mind bodily fluids and low pay I'd say try out the health field. I still have my card and would definitely do it per diem if it wasnt for the outside employment rules.

If there is nothing holding you back from taking a job with lower pay, then I say absolutely go for it! I want to do the same but face a lot of familiar pressure against it even though I don’t really care about making tons of money either. Best wishes!!

Awesome! Maybe think about what kind of work you enjoy. Do you like working with your hands, do you enjoy teaching others, do you enjoy being creative..? These are all general questions and can be applied to many jobs. If you don’t have a dream, you can start out just doing anything. You will figure out what you like and what you don’t, and it will help guide you to your next job!

Sometimes it takes time to figure out what you want to do (I'm on career #4-career #5 could be out there in my future-who knows). Since PA isn't for you, I would say get the heck out and take a job that pays your bills while you figure out what you might like to do. Use the time to talk to people you know in other industries to learn more about those industries, people's careers, etc. Or to connect with people in those industries if you don't know anyone.

I don’t have an answer for you cuz bro I’m in an identical boat. Right there with ya man. ✌🏻

Looking for advise. I work for a large military defense contractor in LA as a Cyber Security Engineer. This is my first job in Cyber. I’m only 5 months into my job and the new hires and I are all feeling completely underwater. There’s very little training(aside from the first two weeks) and we’ve been averaging over 55 hours a week recently, barely staying a float. Should I try to find a new job in this economy? Also, I had always planned to do cyber for a tech company, not defense…
