Never give up your vacation.

Also…we don’t save lives, we make ads. Everyone needs to chilllllllll. Take your PTO. Stay strong!

Say no. If you waited for a good time to go, you’d never go.

One time my boss canceled his bachelor party for a business trip…turned out to be a pointless meeting and eventually we lost the account anyway and had to find new jobs. Lesson being, work in the end doesn’t matter

You don't need to apologize for taking the time off the company gives to you.

Tell us your response! And how it went.

Who asked? Your boss? Account?

Last week was my vacation. Spent all of it on work. They asked if my vacation was a "vacation vacation" or if I would have WiFi…

It should always be a “vacation vacation” or the days don’t count as used vacation days. And in an unlimited vacation situation, you damn well be sure those are “vacation vacation days.”

Tell them you will not have access to reliable wifi or cell service

Career Tip: Martyrdom is not rewarded in the workplace. Take your PTO. Take care of your body & your mind. Have interests and strong relationships outside of work so that you do not attach undue importance to the people at work. Protect your peace.

Any advice for approaching a maternity leave conversation when my company has no policy, no HR dept and I have no contract? I’m a partner shareholder in my company (we’re not in the US), 19 wks pregnant. I know the time off and pay I’d like to negotiate, but my partners are male and weird about money. I’m underpaid in a very senior 6 yr position, my job is stressful and around the clock, so I want proper leave. I can’t afford childcare and our govt stat leave is terrible, it won’t pay my bills.

How can I feel less guilty about taking time off? My partners sound very supportive of my time off to destress and all. But the stream of emails and call invites coming in, and occasional emails from managers sometimes just make me feel like I’m abandoning my responsibilities.

I’ve been creating my pre-recorded video lectures using Screencastify since the beginning of the school year without any issues. However, right before the holiday break my students started experiencing issues where the screen would go completely black in the middle of a video. Has anyone experienced this before? I’m wondering if it might have to do with the program becoming overburdened by the volume of videos being created on the platform.
