Really struggling to get enough protein when striving for a relatively high-protein diet. Everyone relies so heavily on protein shakes and bars but when I consume too much at once I feel bloated and nauseous. Like I can’t get through half a protein shake before feeling ill, or half a protein bar. Has anyone else struggled in the same way? Are there certain products you found that were better than others in terms of digestibility… or do I just need to eat a bunch of chicken every day? 😂

Chickpea pasta, overnight oats with protein powder but not as much as a shake. I agree with you on the bloated feeling. Try collagen too. Drinking the protein shake with tons of water helps too. A banana blended in helps.

This used to happen to me until I realized my body cannot tolerate straight whey protein. Try switching to whey isolate - way easier on the stomach and I no longer have this issue.

Use a food processor to mix dates with protein power. It's a little high in sugar but there's your protein. As far as protein shakes if I can't down it I'll add ice and cinnamon which makes it more palatable.

I mix my protein powder in my coffee. Tastes less like cardboard then lol. Have you tried different types of protein powders? Maybe others might not make you feel bloated. I know it’s not high protein but I eat stir fried veggies with chicken, mushrooms, salmon, tofu, paneer, edamame. That is “higher” protein content and filling. I make lots of Indian food since there is a variety of flavors you can have with the same ingredients based on the seasoning you use. You can make egg muffins with spinach, sausage, peppers to help with protein too.

I’ve tried different brands of Whey but haven’t tried whey isolate yet, which was suggested below, so may give that a go! Thanks for all the advice!

I’ve found that pea protein is much easier for me to digest than whey.

You might be allergic to something in the shakes or bars. Dairy or legumes or gluten. Something is making you bloated.

I substitute quinoa for rice. It has 8g of protein per cup (cooked) and super fast to make. It serves well as a hot or cold dish (salad) and has 9 essential amino acids (complete protein unlike other plant based proteins).

Okay, I’m just going to say I’m deeply ashamed that I work for adam&eve DDB London. IMO it’s become a nasty, toxic environment run by robots. Some of the things I’ve heard this week in how they’ve treated people recently has shaken me. So many people are out sick with burnout. So many people are struggling and we pride ourselves on not giving help. I need out. It’s so elite, jumped up and unsustainable.

My manager thinks that because I WFH, I shouldn't be allowed to take sick time. If I do take a day off, she makes such a big deal over it, and makes life miserable for days afterwards. Problem is, I work in HR, so I'm really not sure who to go to, or if there's anything I can even do.

Bf’s mom is ovrbearing. He got sick the other day and she drove over to take him to her house to “care for him properly” without warning. I asked him to stay here, and good thing he did cuz turns out it’s covid. She comes over every single day for 3 days to bring him soup, even though I made my own huge batch of soup and he took a pic of how full the fridge is. She calls 5 times a day and talks about him like he’s disabled. I’m exhausted from dealing with her; any advice on how to deal?

Do any of you lot worry about agism in the industry? I'm about 5yrs in and thinking about this more and more. Noticed thay most my colleagues, in mutliple agencies, were about my age with 5yrs give or take each way. Its obviously not a new industry, so either people were getting out of it by 35 or not many of them were getting hired past then. Started at a new company recently. Got lowballed on the role without knowing it and they’re essentially making me do the stuff of the grade below. I feel like the manager I’m working for is trying to break my spirit by only criticising me rather than acknowledging what I’ve done.
