There are no hard and fast rules, but 12 weeks is pretty standard to tell an employer. You shouldn’t feel any obligation to tell them sooner than that just because you are starting a new job.
Thank you! I'll wait until 12 🤞
I will be around 8 weeks when I start, and will be telling them soon after if this sticks. I'll be getting an ultrasound the week before I start so will have a better idea at that point.
If I didnt have this history I'd be more inclined to tell them before I start.
I found out I was pregnant with my first when I was interviewing for my current role. I told them when I got the 12 wk mark and my boss was pretty cool about it (to her credit). What I did do was work my ass off until I went on maternity leave and guarantee that I would come back. As far as mar leave is concerned, while I wasn’t eligible for FMLA, there was a specified period of short term disability that came along with delivery. I was able to negotiate for one additional weeks and one that was part time WFH. So all in, after a csection, I was able to get 9.5 wks of leave
Just wait. I think we make it a bigger deal than it needs to be.
