Received an offer from both EY and Deloitte in FS which would be substantial pay increases. Honestly cannot think of a deciding factor as both had amazing people that I talked to. Title for both should be SC in the NorthEast. Will the WLB differ that much? Does one have a huge advantage in a benefit over the other? How are both dealing with a post-covid world?

It all depends on the team ultimately and the clan you are part of .. my experience in Deloitte was horrible, people are not supportive of industry hires and taboo them as if they have come from some other planet. There is a lot that consulting companies need to change in making the transition successful for the hire and themselves. So my advice is that you talk to people on your future team to evaluate if you will be surrounded by supportive leaders or nay sayers

Op, It seems like the benefits are comparable with little bit of Deloitte advantage. With QOL, EY may have advantage. You should dig deep and find out what kind projects you want to do and what projects the specfic sub group offers. EY is weaker in technology space. They have partnered with IBM to beef up their implementation experience. Internally everything is centered around Microsoft technology. Usually they try to compensate saying we are strong in business which essentially means they have some specific client account relationships. EY is by core an assurance firm which subsidizes everything else. At the end of the day after 20 years all the differences that I pointed out will not matter. All you will look for is whether you have enough credibility and reputation in your area of work. Things can go wrong in either of the firms. But no harm in trying to be cautious.

Both are great firms. I have been with EY for two years and Deloitte for almost 13 years. Deloitte processes are well mature than EY. D life is stressful, I agree. D has more monetary benefits than EY. Your chances to be a partner are more in EY than D. 401K is better in D.

like

EY has even worse 401k? How bad is it?

What are the offers in terms of comp? Deloitte usually has higher potential bonus percentages than EY

At Ey, you can claim 75% of your well-being expenses, up to $1000

like

Both are equally good. Although Deloitte people don't seem to have that good a reputation. You should talk to teams on both side and decide

like

Right. Deloitte sucks.

I don’t know about EY but Deloitte has the worst PRD/+1s/extra-ciriculars of any firm out there. There were weeks were it exceeded 20 hours for me. Deloitte DOES give a lot of extra “Well-being” days and for example they give you a full week at Christmas without having to take PTO

like

Yeah but EY has unlimited PTO now 😂

EY hands down. I’m biased.

like

Left EY recently and was there 7 years. Solid firm and great culture. Have no issue returning there for the right opportunity.

like

EY SC has a little lower expectations (D has an extra level before it) but similar exit ops. Obvious bias here but if you aren’t planning on staying in consulting forever, I’d do EY. Opportunities in EY’s FSO are also quite strong.

Did EY just give out 2 yr retention packages that are ~50% salary and wont affect the annual bonuses? I've only been at Deloitte ~9 months, but so far they are constantly throwing money around and have been very positive about outlook and everyone's performance.

like

Dude that happened for like < 1% of M/SM at the company. I wouldn’t advertise that as a pro to join Deloitte.

I’m at Deloitte (human capital practice) and love it! I don’t like when people make generalizations about the entire firm because there are great leaders and poor ones. Hoping you find supportive leadership no matter which company you choose

like

I’ve worked at Deloitte and have two close friends at EY and I have to say their WLB is much better and they have more paid holidays and now unlimited pto. If the salary is the same I’d go EY.

like

I've worked at both and definitely think EY is better in every way. While salary may be a little lower, WLB is far superior and EY's benefits are solid - 15 paid holidays, unlimited PTO, $1k/year in wellness funds, etc. The WLB and colleague respect/teaming is what will likely have me retiring with EY.

like

For EY, you have to sell any investment with any clients which is most of the major companies.

Which FS team specifically at Deloitte?

I am in Risk Data Regulatory group. Happy to answer any comp, work, leadership related questions. Maybe that helps you to decide between the two.

If there’s one thing that EY consulting is known for, it’s our FS practice.

D has a pension plan, 3 weeks of PTO that count towards util, well being subsidy, and that week in December is awesome

No the title belongs to Deloitte. Please don't take the title away.. Deloitte has gained it in do short period of time. Please appreciate.

Im a BDR at a large medtech vendor that expanded into SaaS complimenting our existing smart devices at hospitals. Sales cycles are long in this industry (min 12mo), but seems our value-add platform is so new to market that it’s taking longer (16-24+mo). I’ve been here for over 6mo and support 3 AE’s with zero pipeline and wins, despite meeting my own metrics to get meetings. Is this complex environment usual for enterprise software sales? Not sure if I’m hurting my new sales career by staying.
