For promotions, your first one will be skills and aptitude based so having your background will help. The next promotion after that will be about driving business for the firm, that's way more dependent on the individual than the advanced degree MBB and boutique LS exits to big pharma I've seen are typically to corp dev, corp strat, business development, commercial/marketing, back office, or digital. Rarely to R&D roles. You'll have a massive advantage with your advanced degree here, it will set you far apart from the strategy consultants with MBAs only. Advanced degrees in big pharma is almost a must. Level wise, EM/PLs usually map to AD level roles, and the ones slightly more senior mapping to D roles. A few lucky ones might land SD roles, VP level is 99% impossible. In terms of skillset, I think you'll use your advanced degree knowledge way more in industry than MBB. In MBB, I think your scientific credentials will be more important than your knowledge. That's based on the types of cases I've seen MBB been hired to solve in pharma

Hi fishes - I’m with an MBB as a 2y Partner looking to move to B4, for a bunch of reasons. In active conversations with two of them. While compensation levels seem similar for now, the other posts on this bowl suggest we end up making more at B4 than MBB. (Referring to the 1.5M number of a y4 partner at b4). What is the real trajectory that people here have seen at B4? And how much of that is bonus - base - other components?

Fellow Fishes - How did you all deal with failure in your career. I was ambitious and smart. I was in IBM and considered to be one of the best of my class. I was fired and haven’t really found my way. I don’t know what to do anymore. 3 years after the fact, I am still at an entry level position. I hate myself for letting things get this bad but I don’t know how to get out of this perpetual cycle. I tried working my ass off but have not been able to shake off that unfortunate past.

In these times, if your referral bonus is $1k or less for seasonal employees you are asking for: 1. Employees who put in work to refer people that end up negotiating a part time option don't work on referring anyone else. 2. If the potential new hire gets an offer, employees have 0 incentive to convince them to accept it. This can even lead to them giving negotiation tips which get the new hire a $5-10k higher offer. They may even recommend accepting a diff firm's offer straight up.

I often see posts about people getting 350K exit or 450K or more in FAANG. Are those strategy folks from Big 4 or are there cyber folks too getting these exits ? I am making close to 200k as M3 in cyber . Not able to anything that would pay more than this in non-consulting ? What roles should I target ?

Wanting advice on whether to apply or not and whether to disclose the pregnancy?
