Received my first recruiter call, went well and now I have a half hour call with the head of legal. I obviously want to ask about their department to compare to what I am currently doing. I wasn’t planning on jumping ship so soon. Any advice? What questions, if any, are off limits? Can I ask about their team moral? Communication? Delegation of responsibilities? Am I overthinking this??

You should ask about whatever you want. You probably aren't going to actually take this job, so it's all about working on your interview skills.

Hi Fishes.

Any performance engineers here?
Just wanted to know what exactly is performance engineering(other than something which is already available on the Internet).
What is the day to day activity of a Performance Engineer?
Also, does Performance Engineering means testing?

Many Thanks in Advance!

A colleague I worked with who was technically unskilled and not client facing copied my resume bullets word for word. I don’t think he even understands what he has copied, because he has listed (copied) project stakeholders our team interacted with before he joined the engagement. I’m no longer in the engagement, but while I was there, he would leech off of my work and try to somehow make it his own.

Additional Posts in In-House Counsel

Transitioning from junior in house at a very small company where I only did small easy contract review to a large multinational corporation in a few weeks, and have those weeks off. Does anyone have any book recommendations I can read until then that actually offer good insight and helpful tips?!

I didn’t learn that much on the business side and I love reading, so seems like a good idea to relax while also preparing a bit.

Have you had to change your start date after accepting an offer and how did it go? I told them I need to give 30 day notice and so I set my start date (incorrectly) assuming the background check and drug screen would take a few days to clear. However, the drug screen is now taking over a week and a half (still not finished, maybe tomorrow). Apparently things are much slower due to staffing issues and labs are backed up. It’s cutting into my 30 day notice significantly. Thoughts?

Boss is gaslighting? Just experienced this for the first time - and would love to hear others’ experiences, too. For the past few years, my micromanager boss asked that I send them every draft of every contract to review, no matter how minor. In my performance review, when asked why I wasn’t promoted, they said that a reason was because I need to learn to stop sending them drafts to review! I said that I only did this because they asked for it, and they said they don’t remember saying that!

I am 7 years out in a transactional practice (real estate) and have an opportunity to move in house at a regionally respected company from a midsize firm. I have WFH flexibility at my current firm but bill about 1850-1900 per year. It would be about a 25% paycut. I have also been offered partnership starting in 2022 if I stay - not entirely clear what that long term structure looks like (would have to develop a partially independent book in next 3-5 years). Am I crazy if I leave?
