How do you convince a client you add value?
Any consulting firms that actually train their employees? I came from WM industry so consulting was a bit of a culture shock and i wish my company had invested time into training me so I’d be a better consultant. Hoping to make a move elsewhere to a company that spends a few weeks mentoring before putting you on a project.
Is there a difference of being on the beach and on the bench? My take is that you are on the beach when you roll off a project that has given you a hard time and want to relax a bit. The bench when you really want to be out on a project but cant for som reason. What is you take? Are they just two words for the same thing
Has anyone successfully switched countries and stayed on their project? My project is a based outside of the US.
Any good courses to get better at UML Diagramming / Product Architecture Diagramming? Project requires heavily solutions diagramming on my part, want to learn to deliver beautiful, clear diagrams.

PM wants local consultant on site even when test of team is remote. Fair or no? Local consultants are balking bc they have unreimbursed hour long commute, no per diem, no meetings with client.

So I was diagnosed w cancer and have spent the last 6 months in surgery, chemo, rocs, etc. I’ve not stopped working accept for 2 weeks post surgery. My boss has been generally understanding about me taking some time when needed. I took a few extra pto during thxgiv week. Prior to leaving I had several project that I had to deliver, without any feedback I submitted them. When I got back I was given poor feedback &told that “your inconsistent presence is hard to work with”… how do I react?

Been performing like a high performer on my client up to this point and all the sudden I find myself looking up a therapist and being almost useless to my team (maybe useless is harsh, but I can’t will myself to get basic stuff done at this point). Literally happened within a split moment; in the morning I was taking the lead on calls and sometime around noon, it just hit and hit hard. Don’t know how to explain it yet, but I wanted to come here and vent. Anyone else experience this?
Currently swamped with wedding planning - should I stay in a boring long term project with decent WLB but zero learning or try and switch to something more interesting where I’ll learn more but with less WLB?
It’s a second time I’m asked to pick up unfinished work from a practice team member moving on to a more interesting project.. I’m new to the firm, and having to pick up work that has been already started is extremely challenging for me.. I don’t really know how to avoid getting in such stressful situations. I’ve reached out to my practice lead and hope to have a candid conversation and adequate feedback. Honestly want to gtfo, but it would suck to look for a new job.. maybe Im being dramatic
