i dont know anything but others are saying its low, so im also gonna say its low

funny

Way too low. Total comp for senior associate should be all in >400k

like

Yup lmm much lower but still higher than OPs offer

YOE?

3.5

Seems kind of low tbh. For some context I'm at a lmm first year Associate and im making about that much all in

V low

Is this for deal team?

Really low for senior

Low for senior associate

Very low. You’ll be worked to the bone and have no upside. Could be a great trampoline to another role if you don’t have buyside xp

$200k in the Bay Area is somewhat low for PE, close to on par for 3.5 YOE for VC at a small shop. If you like the culture and the role, could be worth it. I would recommend you inquire about the timeline to carry.

Very low. What is latest fund size / AUM?

What size and AUM? How good are they? What is the upward mobility?

I thought so too. It’s a MF. Upward mobility is unclear…

Late stage venture? Venture generally pays less, but this is still terrible comp for a MF. Off market for the big boys

Very low. I’m on almost the same as senior associate in LMM in Europe where salaries are usually less than half of US.

Started a new job back in January. Creative Director, a team of 7. Went back & fourth in negotiating. Offered 110k. Asked for 120k, settled on 115k. I even threw in that I was taking a hit with benefits, needing to pay 5k more as compared to my position I was leaving. That’s how I got it to 115k. At my annual I plan to address again, in partnership with the impact this position will have made this past year. What do other creative directors earn, if you don’t mind sharing? Industry av says 136k

Feeling poor. Houses are expensive. I make really good money for my area ($260k, Mpls), but even a down payment of $100k doesn’t get you much in Minneapolis proper unless you want to be house poor—which seems like an insane concept at my income level. Seriously considering renovating my current house instead. Despite being in the top 5% (?) of earners in the area, I just can’t compete. Oof.

Let’s talk about carry. When are folks at your firm granted carry? How much and what are the vesting terms? How do you consider carry in terms of your total comp?
I’ll start. At my MM firm, carry is granted based on fundraising and can be granted as early as associate for the right person, though usually senior associate and up. Vesting is immediate and paid out as fund investments are exited.
