Recent lateral to Firm A; 10 days in I got an offer from more desirable Firm B. I rejected it out of loyalty and now hate myself and my decision. What do I need to do to go back to Firm B?

How is Firm B more desirable? You can just call and say you've given it more thought and ask if the position is still open, if they're still open to having you move there.

Appreciate it, thanks for the response!

Let’s see who remembers their MPRE. Just found a position at my dream firm I would like to interview for; however, I was also just placed on a deal where dream firm is the opposite counsel. I don’t want my current firm to know I’m thinking of leaving in case I don’t, so asking for a conflicts waiver doesn’t seem feasible. But the deal won’t close until next year, so I doubt the position will be around if I wait that long. Any advice?

Currently in TCS basic is low around 20-25% of your salary.

As per the proposed new wage rules, basic should be 50% of package. So this will eventually increase Gratuity of long timer TCS.

In a case, if my Gratuity stands at 1 Lakh say, with new wage rules it will be 2.5 Lakhs.. Is my understanding correct? Will the company pay from their pocket for this?

Physician Assistant salaries in the Chicago Area? I’ve practiced at an AMC for 5.5 years and make around 116k salary. Outpatient surgical sub specialty, but the same salary “formula” as my previous role in urgent care in the same system. Another AMC offered me 124k 9 months ago for a similar role - which I turned down due to some red flags during interviews. Recently got a 10k retention bonus when I voiced my intent to leave but still feel underpaid as I’m literally keeping my practice afloat.

I'm about to complete one year being a Financial Crime Analyst in Financial Services industry. I'm currently paid AUD85k. So if you pass the MPRE with flying colors that allegedly measures “ethical competence” you’re likely not a danger to the public, but if you fail the bar exam that allegedly measures and protects the public from malpractice you’re a danger to the public? I had a big laugh today. 😂

So who is going to run the redline of vF roe opinion vs leaked draft?

Kind of niche question here but under NY CPLR, if a plaintiff files a MTD/MSJ, and then the defendants file opposition papers containing information that the court had previously ordered to be kept under seal, would you a) file a reply asking to seal/strike the opposition papers or b) file a separate OTSC since you’re now seeking additional relief not sought in the original motion?

Insights on Gunderson and Fenwick?

I’m asking out of genuine curiosity - why do law firms promote people who have 0 leadership and management skills to partner? I know people who have been promoted to partner who have for a fact been given poor reviews bc they are egregious managers — some are not even respected by juniors because they also don’t have much substantive knowledge. Is it just politics?

I am a first-year in big law who started earlier this year. I am on pace to bill around 140 this month and I feel like I am not doing enough work. I’ve consistently reached out to partners but am not getting staffed on assignments. Today I did barely any work. I keep hearing about how slammed firms have been recently and am nervous that I’m not doing what I’m supposed to be doing. Is this a common enough experience when you first start out? What could I be doing differently to be more visible?

I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy. I was laid off in April due to Covid related business losses. I still haven’t found a position. Is this normal? I declined an in-house offer last month but am beginning to get a little panicked. Thoughts?

Mid-level M&A associate over here. Thinking I’d like to make the move out of big law but struggling with what my options are. Have no interest in going in-house and staying in a legal capacity - would want to transition into more of a business role. Wondering if anyone can share their experience making that kind of move.

If you travel to another office within your firm to do something for Client A, but an emergency comes up for Client B that ends up taking all of your time (but that you didn’t strictly speaking have to be at the other office location to handle), which client do you bill your travel time/expense to?

Thoughts on a starting salary in NY? I have a concentration I healthcare law, this would be my first position. I graduated then Covid happened. I want to start at 90k because inflation and cost of living but a place I’m going to interview with wants to start at 79/80k. Lowball or is that about right?

Already posted this in big law but anyone here work at DLA, Kirkland or Jones Day in NY corporate? Kirkland seems best on paper but I don’t want to work there lol
