Recently everyday by the time it’s around 4pm I’m just completely beat and can’t focus on anything anymore. Solo staff with no team & some personal stuff going on. Is it time to quit?

I feel ya on this. 4pm isn’t bad though. I get exhausted at the first sound of some Director spewing some consulting bullshit.

It’s time to talk to your RP and work something out with project partner ... figure out what that something is first - need flexibility? Time off?

But on a serious note, follow P1’s advice and if you need to leave the firm...that’s okay. Your health is more important. I’m thinking of doing the same because this place makes me pretty sad and I recognize that’s not all PwC’s fault and I need a reset as well.

Agree with all of the above. Since sometimes these things take time to work themselves out, try breaking up the day-listen to podcasts throughout the day, take yourself to a nice lunch or sit outside, or take a lap around the office or block every hour or two (set an alarm!).

If you can ... sometimes I’ve snuck out early , made an excuse like I feel dizzy or something , then have gone home / hotel. Sometimes you just need a night to go home early and not grind.

Last time I did this, I was so exhausted, I went home at 530, ate, fell asleep at 730 and woke up at 7 the next day. Kind of was a nice reset

I can’t tell if I’m unmotivated because of the project, the job, the fact that I’m a loan staff (and therefore a lone staff? Ha), or because of personal reasons (or all the above) hence don’t even know how to approach it. I just know that by 4pm (after all the meetings during the day) I’m totally beat, exhausted and can’t focus anymore.

It’s time to go home at 4 pm each day

Whatever it is, sounds like you could benefit from a (little) break. Maybe call the EAP line and have a chat with someone. I’ve used them and highly recommend it.

Get up, go for a coffee/tea, and come back standing tall shoulders back. Let your body change your mindset.

Colleague has put in his resignation. They are offering him whatever he wants to stay including 4days a week work from home. He’s not bluffing and plans to leave. However, at this same time I was asked to begin working as a supervisor for the engineering team and I would get a promotion at the beginning of the year. I have been supervising and managing our team of 6 for months with no extra pay or bonuses. I was told yesterday that raises will be light this year. Yet today they spare nothing.

Hello,
I am in my late 20s currently in a career transition from teaching to consultancy. I am interested in consultancy jobs within the international development industry that would also allow me to travel. However, I do not have any relevant experience. I speak French and have a background in business and Political Science.
Any advice on how to break into the field with no experience?
Thanks in advance!

Anyone else kinda enjoying the wfh/lack of pressure to go out? I got a pay cut, I’m working harder than ever and things are uncertain but I can’t help but feel relieved to not be so emotionally drained. Maybe it’s because I’ve been doing a lot of emotional labor for others? 😬

Gen Z here - Actually appalled at my generation for being so lazy and entitled. My cohort of new hires are so full of it.
