Speak slowly
Emulate Trump. Frankly, he has the BEST words. Unlike Crooked Hilary. LOCK HER UP!
Any upspeak? Practice making the ends of sentences end on a downward tone.
Too many "likes"?
OP, this suggestion might be a little out there. Get training from speech/drama coaches. They can help you with modulation, projection, and body language
Talk slowly. Use simple words that are familiar to you. Be you. It’s also apparent when one is being fake as well
Did you receive specific examples? Too much “like” or slang? There’s also the issue where some people (often younger women) make statements sound like questions, as in “let’s walk through the deck?”. That will make you sound grade-school age at best. There are books/videos on “exceptional presentations” and you could watch those - and record/watch yourself. You could also ask to practice presentations/speaking with trusted mentors/coaches. Or go the pro route and get a speech therapist or vocal coach.

D1 pretty much everything you said, I’m a female and work in the Cyber space (male dominated) I tend to end my sentences with questions and get nervous when speaking and lower my volume and end up sounding like a shy school girl. I guess it’s all just confidence and practice.
Mix of both ^
Second D2 Toastmasters is a great way
It’s definitely practice - and practicing with a safe audience ala Toastmasters, trusted mentor, etc
^ I’ve been a coach for a number of folks, coincidentally in PwC’s Cyber practice as well, who needed to work on speaking. It’s a pretty common area for more technical folks to work on - universities don’t put enough emphasis on it. Toastmasters is definitely a good option but one coachee audited a drama class at a local college to get help with projection and presence and she got a lot out of it.
Getting this feedback now and taking action on it will pay dividends for you throughout your career. I hated my public speaking classes in school but honestly they probably did more for my career than any other single class.
Thanks all, I will look into toastmasters I just get very nervous. I’m not even that technical! Just too shy, and when I’m not shy I’m too casual. Have been watching some good speakers on YouTube to try emulate their ways of speaking haha
Toastmasters exists to help with exactly that sort of thing so definitely look into them.
Look at a program called Speakeasy. Solid program with good results.
The firm has some decent “practicing conversation” courses delivered by outside trainers. May be worth looking into if you want a 1 day crash course. They even record you on video.
Avoid vague phrases ... "like, stuff, you know, things, um" I had a manager talk like that and idk how he has moved up so far speaking like that.
Also talk in an organized/logical fashion. Kids are never organized ...
Good luck!!
Talk loudly
