Recently got my child's passport renewed. Child is minor so effectively a new passport. Here is the timeline, with just regular service.

6/2 Applied in person at the local county office
6/6 The application reached the State Dept
7/9 Got email that status changed to Approved
7/12 Received the new passport

End to end, a little more than 5 weeks. "Routine service can take 8-11 weeks" is the standard disclaimer. It's all good people!

If you have a trip and are concerned about passport service timeline, contact your state representative. They have have the power to get your service expedited.

Agree. I had my kids done last year and took 6. So glad we did not drop the extra bucks

It varies by where you apply and the individual person.

Of course it does! But over the course of years, I've had 2 passports, spouse 2 passports, and child on 3rd passport and every single time I've had them delivered way before the State Dept's suggested timeline. Even now when there is apparently a longer timeline.

Thanks for sharing this!!! I just got married so I need to change my name on mine and this gives me hope

Wife just got her passport back in 5 weeks for a name change and got global entry updated for the name change 2 days later at the local 'international' airport. All in, easy process.

Can anyone suggest how to get approval for work from home during my bench time. I am very much tensed

Hi all! So first, husband and I are both 28. I’ve been pregnant before and had previous child at 23. I was obviously way younger. Didn’t even try to get pregnant back then. Fast forward five years later, want a baby badly. I am 50 pounds more than I was at 23. And my periods are now irregular. I do get them every month which the obgyn thought was a great sign. But I’m still not pregnant. I cant pinpoint ovulation as some months my period is 29-32 days and last month it was 45. Help

Is it realistic to have a decent WLB if you’re a parent and working in MBB/T2 in Dubai? Is it guaranteed that you’d be travelling Monday-Thursday? Currently, I have a decent WLB in London but money is very attractive in Dubai but don’t want to miss my child growing up if I’m expected to not be home >80% of the time.
Any parents working in Dubai MBB/T2 have an answer?

i’m in quite the dilemma - I have a new job that requires me to move to another state and remain virtual. However, I requested an exception to delay the move since I became pregnant and other reasons -i.e-no childcare in the state of moving and spouse can’t relocate with me at the current moment. I sent in a medical letter for my pregnancy care by my high risk specialist and they are reviewing this. I have since miscarried and still grieving. have no idea what to do.

Genuine question…
I have about $3M in net worth (retirement accounts, stock market investments, checking and savings account) Additionally, I have two homes about $1.2M in average market worth. Have been thinking about FIRE but at 2.5% rule I’m looking at about $100K in income annually and about $28K from rental income. Age is 48 going to 49. And one kid yet to start school = $200K college expense. What would you suggest possible options can look like for retirement?

I am the world's worst flier. I hate flying so much and usually sit and cry the entire flight from fear and anxiety. Ever since I had my kid, who is now a teenager, it's gotten even worse. I am so afraid something will happen to me that will leave him without a mother. Yes, I know the statistics on crashes. It's not just that. It's the fact that I've had two superficial blood clots in my legs in the past (not DVT), had covid last year and really don't want to get it again (more in comments)

The firm cares very little about originations and will reward someone for making their collections over someone who brings in new work. I missed my collection budget due to some odd timing with a client, but originated more than all my peers so no bonus for me. I’ve been at this same mid level firm for 9 years and it’s all I know.
