I think so too. The silver lining is that you are getting a view into the company culture. Probably it’s too bureaucratic and too many people involved in their decision making chain. Right now burn out is a thing in the corporate world and I would assume the amount of interviews you have had for an Analyst role should be able to shed more light for them to make a decision. It could also mean they probably don’t have the right people in their recruitment process who are asking the right questions and able to gather the right type of information to make a decision. I would focus more on probing their culture for the next round of interviews to make sure if you decide to take on the role, it’s the right fit for you. Pay attention to what they are not telling you vs. what they are actually selling on surface level. What have they offered you so far that makes it seem like it’s a good opportunity? Make sure to define expectations early. Be wary of managers that say their team is a family, it usually implies a culture of no ownership. Ask how many reports/ deliverables will you have to prepare, just to make sure you are on the same space on scope. Is there a culture of continuous learning? How does the company provide opportunities for growth and timeline? Is there a formalized mentorship program? Why are the hiring for this role and what happened to the person who had it? Ask strategic questions.

This is really great advise! Thank you.

So far they have told me there’s a lot of opportunities for growth. Usually folks move up between 2-3 years. I don’t know the compensation at the moment but I already told the recruiter my max to leave so it should be better than my current role. Definitely will be asking these questions at the interview. Burn out and a lot of bureaucracy will definitely be a complete concern to me.

I had 7 interviews before being offered my current role. It was very much worth it. The company I work for puts a lot of value on their culture and one of the goals of interviews is to ensure that the incoming employee will fit in with that culture. I thought it was overkill too, to be honest, but I now understand why they do it that way.

As for being too bureaucratic, that is actually the opposite of the culture here. It IS very collaborative with a lot of cross-functional work so they often want to make sure that a candidate is comfortable with many different levels of interactions.

I will say that if all of the interviews that you are having seem to ask the same questions and focus on the same skillsets, then maybe that is too much. At Toast, there may be many interviews but each would be assigned a different focus such as culture fit, effective communication, problem solving, subject matter expertise, etc. And in most cases all of the people who interview you would ultimately be people that you'd be working with in some capacity.

Hi ladies, looking for advice:
My team is tiny and we're recruiting for someone below my level

Myself and the only other junior (above me) both didn't decide to push one candidate forward as she was just eh (and personally, she no-showed once and was late) plus there were definitely better candidates

However, my manager wanted to push her forward anyways (I believe for diversity/personal bias)

Given my manager has a lot of influence in general, I'm stressed she's going to get the role

So when I started interviewing for my current position (6 years in consulting experience ) I had expressed my salary expectations as $125K-$130K per annum which was met with absolute guarantee and positivity however after interview (which went amazing one of my best interviews) they came up with $97K offer with 160 hours PTO. Non negotiable because I needed to learn the ways of the company as I didn’t have specific industry experience they were looking for. Did I get severely low balled?

I interviewed for an employed role and knocked my business plan pitch out the park, but could tell I disappointed them with my technical. By my own admission I’m lacking in this area as only have 1.5 years experience with a poor manager who only had me focus on biz dev.
