Use your former consultant frame of mind.
What would scare you the most if you were a consultant who was rude to someone on the client side? Then do that to them 😈.
Perhaps I need to give more details: so he has been working on the workstream for a while and I am a new client; I set up a call to discuss potential areas of improvement and he joined the call late, he immediately asks "who are you and why am I here", then he becomes really defensive and won't let me finish with my rationale. I mean understood if you are doing an awesome job and no area of improvement, then again you have to also let me do my job and we can all have a nice conversation and conclusion, no need to be rude
Unacceptable. Call him out and tell his manager/leadership
Complain to their leadership. There’s no excuse for people to be rude to others at work. It’s just a job.
What did he do? Is it something that shouldn’t go unmentioned
Holy moly, he's supposed to be working for you. Unacceptable to act any way but professional with a client. You could talk to him directly, but I would escalate to the manager on the project. He needs to either shape up or roll off.
Being rude to clients is interesting. I have seen some Consultants act that way because they were part of the meetings/lunches with your bosses and add longevity feel like they have more leverage than employees and for some reason entitled for that behavior. If I were you will give him work at 5 PM and weekends make an unreasonable ask and prove he is not worth a dime :) use that and ask for a roll off with his boss
Lunge at him on the next Zoom call
Find where he lives and harass gin, obviously
Leave gin alone, it's the only thing I can look forward to at 5PM 🥺

Literally just tell his leadership
