Well it depends on what your software does and what space you’re targeting. Without knowing that, it’s difficult to opine here.
I see, well, I build custom ERPs/CRMs/Mobile apps for my clients so they can organise and run their business in a more efficient manner. As an example one of my clients was running a retail store and all his inventory and orders were either done on a paper or just by remembering them. So I build an ERP to help him keep track of orders and inventory. We also have other services that we provide but our focus is on this one.
Start with a website, focus on SEO so potentials will find that website, and create partnerships with companies who likely have customers asking them to do things that they can’t do so they’ll refer those leads over to you.
Do you know an accountant or a lawyer? If so, usually with respect to accountants, a lot of their clients would really benefit from what you do. I’m finalizing my own company’s taxes now and my accountant has been mentioning how so many of his clients’ businesses need to be better run.
How many YOE? Your best leads are your professional network you already have. If you don’t, selling professional services is hard. Any kind of professional services sales requires selling yourself and your company as reliable. This is hard to do without having a proven track record / rapport.
Yeah, I do have a few clients but they don't really have a great network or something anything that would help me get more clients
What type of technology and platform?
I do have employees and I want to scale it even further, eventually I do want to have my own customers and charge per project. We are also working on an ERP for the auto industry and we have one client that is using it on a daily basis and giving us feedback which is great. But that's not enough money to sustain and we can still handle more work. But for now I'll take whatever I can get to start scaling, be it outsourcing or by project.
