Recently promoted to senior in IT audit at a big 4. Should I stay or should I go? The people I liked to work with left. I find SOX boring, I can do it somewhere else with better pay and probably appreciation. I am also ready for a new challenge/opportunity. Should I just stay till manager? Is the grass truly greener on the other side? Would appreciate your advice or experiences.

I left IT audit as an experienced senior. Never been happier and honestly wish I had jumped ship a bit earlier on as senior. If you’re unsure, put some feeler resumes out there and see what comes of it. Maybe you’ll see a salary or position that truly interests you.

I still do audit/consulting, but for private companies. It’s a lot less stressful. I’m not sure I’ve worked over 40 hours since joining over a year ago, and the pay is still great.

Nah leave. You’re not happy

I’ve advised some colleagues who recently made manager to stick it out at least another 6 months to get that manager experience under their belt (and in their CVs), but if you’ve only just been promoted to senior that is gonna be a LONG and very painful time for you. Would advise you to leave altogether or move horizontally into other areas of your Firm like maybe internal audit

He also said he’s coming with gf. I said im happy to write him a personal reference letter, but wont be able to get him a business one. Is this rude?
