Consulting

Recently promoted to sr consultant but put on a manager position for months in my project cuz the manager left for family leave. Do I have any leverage for early manager promo or request higher comp?

Kick butt, show you can do it. That’s the best leverage you can get

Crush the project and then use this successful example as promotion fodder on your next review. Consider this a test :)

If the manager was doing their job well, they probably gave you a pretty clear roadmap to follow for the next few months. This is certainly a great opportunity for you, but I wouldn’t go so far as to say you’re “managing” quite yet.

Operating at a manager level on a single project for a few months is not a justification for promotion (especially given you mentioned that you’ve recently been promoted to Sr). You need to demonstrate this consistently over time in multiple project to be able to make that case.

To the partner who decided to take a picture in his wine cellar, while wearing a tux, to show how he was working from home...it's a little tone deaf. Helen Keller would probably agree with me.

I’m still hearing some snobbery from brand / design shops on strategy at ad agencies being less rigorous / less than / in service of creative. How do we combat this perspective?!
