It's not a bad bump, could probably be higher. What are you looking for and is it in the similar line of work you do now?

I agree could probably be a higher bump. I decided to take the switch from B4 audit to making a switch to tax and have been doing that the last 2+ years. I want to make myself a little bit more diverse and not get pigeonholed in just SALT

Also, I do not currently work for Big 4 (was originally in audit before making the switch)

80k for nyc? That’s low

Have an offer on the table at a startup that’s $35K more than current big 4 salary for a Senior Manager role. Benefits package is very comparable (401k match, healthcare costs, fringe stipends for WFH). Startup has been around for 5+ years and has secured a solid, 9 figures of investor dollars. Is it worth the move and having to leave my extremely secure “network” and role at a Big 4?

Deloitte: I see there is an HR policy that allows you to go 60-80% whenever you want to/in any role so long as there is a business case. Does this ever happen in consulting? Is it more likely to be approved in certain groups/with certain skills? I’m thinking it might be feasible to stay here if I could could go on a reduced schedule after baby 2. If that’s something I could work towards and prepare for in the year or so prior, I’d like to set myself up well for it! Any insight is appreciated!

Apparently more than a few of my firm's associates moved to other states during COVID and are now quitting because we are coming back to the office. The wierd thing is that my office is quickly replacing those associates with other associates that moved here (a large secondary market) during COVID and refuse to go back to their (mostly NYC-based) firms. Is this churn happening at other firms too?

For those of us who fall in to the overweight, obese, or morbidly obese categories (71.6% of us) or for anyone with a “pre-existing” condition impacting Covid outcomes - how are you managing anxiety surrounding Covid and the risk factor of being obese? In particular, I’ve seen a few posts addressing obesity and coronavirus on here that - on top of all the news articles in the last few months - have led to crippling anxiety. Additionally, what lifestyle changes have you made, if any?

I’m not much of a conspiracy theorist, but am I the only person who thinks the mass publication of the Omicron variant by the media was due to traditionally low viewership during the holidays? As overall viewership falls in a post-Trump era and waning COVID numbers, big media has to be a little nervous about audience retention.

Receiving any negative/constructive feedback scares the sh*t out of me. I had a toxic previous job experience with a manager who used any small thing as a means to scare me out of employment. Now at my new place of employment, if I do get a constructive comment or something to work on, a lot of anxious thoughts run through my mind until I can somehow calm down and go back to working somewhat productively again - but I always have that fear of being fired over it. 😔
