Recently started at a big 4 and I am absolutely astounded (and slightly disgusted) at the use of PDFs used for support. Why am I having to zoom it 300% to see the number on a workpaper? And why are we PDFing excel worksheets to PDF as our support, therefore I can't see if there's any formula errors or hardkeyed numbers.

For reference, yes, I can still go to the actual excel document to confirm this, but my question is, why in the world are we PDFing EVERYTHING into ONE document?

Biggest cringe for me has got to be when people include “ex-<company name>” in their title… see it for loads of the big 4 firms and I’m thinking wow you must love slave drivers that underappreciate you 🤣

Should I tell them how much im making now, which is admittantly at the very top of the SC band, or counter with a range that’s more than I’m making? I'm a partner with young kids and feel like I'm missing out on too much of their lives. Does anyone else constantly put off putting their time in as they go and then hate their life at the end of the month? Then once you get caught up, you don’t want to enter more time, and so you fall behind again. It’s a vicious cycle.

I am a 2nd year associate at a plaintiff’s firm specializing in toxic tort cases (individual). I’ve had the opportunity to be third chair on a trial, and will likely be second chair in an upcoming trial. However, given the track record of the firm and the amount of money at stake in each case, I am afraid I won’t get any first chair experience, if any, for at least another 5-7 years.
