Recommendations for car rentals for a weekend trip to upstate NY?

Everywhere I look seems to be sold out of cars - is this normal?

Very normal in nyc for rental cars to go super quick - even on normal weekends. Holiday weekends like Memorial Day etc. - plan well in advance or forget it.

I’d look into a zip car membership. It’s I think $5/month and relatively good rental rates. We’ve always been able to find a car pretty close by that’s met our needs.

To address your question, I think rental companies have drastically reduced inventory as a result of travel reductions.

I've heard nothing but horror stories about Zip Car lately. Ymmv but take it with a grain of salt

You could also try something like Turo, you rent from a private individual but backed by Turo

I want to be humane about this but also getting tired of paying for a monthly visit instead of the weekly setup we agreed to a few years back. Not sure I want to pay any longer than that for little service.

I recently moved into a new place that has windows with metal frames. Is this normal or should I be telling like the building management about it? I'm scared that it might ruin the wood and paint around the area.

I’m currently leasing an apartment in Philly. A new company just bought my building and now we owe payments to them.

Are we supposed to be given a new lease when this happens? No where in my current lease does it say, if someone buys our company that we’ll automatically have agreements transferred

Landed a job in NYC. As much as I want to live there and will be moving in with my partner I think the most financially savvy option is to live in Jersey city to save on the city tax. Both our salaries would definitely go up next year so moving to the city would be a huge possibility in 2022. Has anyone else started our in Jersey city first ? Is it worth it or should I just try to make it work in NYC ?
