Spaderma is fantastic.

Which location? I went to Spaderma in LP last time and was not super happy with the results, but that is maybe more due to who did the injections than anything.

I was having a conversation with a good friend I went to law school with. We both have been in private practice for 30+ years. We were discussing how so much energy was putting into getting into a good law school, setting up our own practices, building our law firms etc. but little to none in how to wind up our own careers and retire.I was wondering if anybody on this forum has actually retired and how life looks like after the rigorous practice of law. Do you feel a loss of purpose? Identity?Does doing volunteer work fill that void?

How do you tell a manager that the reason you don’t ask them questions is because when you’ve asked them questions in the past they try to short answer you and then don’t give you an actual answer or try to help you in the least amount of way? I have asked her questions on training items that she didn’t really help me on in the past so I have struggled through a couple things with clients. She called me out on my time on this client and told me all of this in an EOD email.

Decided that I’m leaving audit today. Trying to understand the full range of opportunities in forensics. Will have my CPA and CFE. So far, I understand that there are client-serving firms like FTI and then the B4 will have forensics arms as well. What are some other forensic accounting roles? Pros and cons? Better than audit? Honestly just looking to learn anything.

I am a 46 year old attorney. My live-in partner of 6 years is a 51 year old non-attorney. He works hard from 8 - 5:30/6:00 and then is done for the day. I have to log back on after dinner; he does not. I have kids who live with me 1/2 the time; he does not have kids. I cook all of our meals (except for those that are take out) and generally do the post-meal cleanup. I have asked him to help with this, and he has gone so far as to put away food, but when it comes to…cont in comments…

I’ve posted here before about the best way to give notice. I plan to do it Monday, which will be 3 weeks before my new job starts. This week, my judge has inexplicably told me how much he appreciates my work/how thankful he is for my work. He told us previously that he had hormone issues that he was starting medication for. He was nice for a while before becoming incredibly toxic. The hours/benefits are so good, but I’m so scared he’ll go back to toxicity. Should I stay or go?

I am 5 (almost 6) months pregnant and finding it increasingly difficult to handle my work load as a litigation associate. How do other pregnant attorneys cope?

Any tips on getting better at paying attention to detail and proofreading? I’m in transactional law and it seems like no matter how much I try, I miss some silly mistakes when editing. I’ve reviewed all the posts on the shoe debate and am hoping to narrow this down. Any ladies, who love high heels, regret their Louboutin purchase? Looking at 85mm but would probably be as comfortable as someone can be in 100mm.

I know this is a very subjective question, but in NYC, how much money do you need to raise a child? Our combined gross income is $325k per year, about to increase to $450k this summer. Combined student loan is $180k. We expect no help from parents. I want to pay it off asap & want to save for down payment, but also want to expand our family! How much of a financial hit should I expect? Idk if this is relevant, but we are in our late 20s/early 30s so our biological clock is not ticking hard.

Non-law question: Has anyone invested in an at-home exercise bike/treadmilll/elliptical during all of this? Do you use it?

I’d really love an exercise bike (I’ve basically quit working out because I’m tired of videos) but I’d hate to spend the money and have it sit there after 6 months. For reference, I’m looking at something about half the price of a Peloton.

Does anyone have thoughts on a nanny vs daycare for an infant? Don’t want to call out of work but can’t fathom working today 💔. Lucky I’m finally in house. Left partner of 2Y yesterday. Always had jealousy issues (her thinking I chose friends over her, her isolating me from friends to have me all to herself) and I finally said enough is enough. Final straw was her throwing a glass of water in my face when fighting. She keeps begging me to come home and says she’ll change. Hard not to go back. Never thought I’d be 32, heartbroken, and on sisters spare room.

Exciting news but also need some guidance-- after many many months of looking I received an offer from a small firm. Seems like a great opportunity ex big law folks, in my practice area, no billable requirement, culture embraces remote work, appearance of forward thinking firm. At last firm I was making around 140k (underpaid for market), offer letter is 85k and potential bump to 100kish after a certaib period. Do I bother trying to negotiateor just accept and leave money alone?
