Sports has always been my take. Joining some form of league is a great way to make friends. I’ve played ice hockey the majority of my life and joining one of the leagues in a new city when I moved has given me so many lifelong friends.
I’m in my 30s with kids now but agree - look at VOLO for kickball, volleyball, etc. leagues! They were great when I was in my 20s in denver trying to make friends.
Same situation here. We made good friends through our church.

Echoing what most people have said but really any hobby or activity is definitely the easiest way to meet people. Personally I've had success with soccer/volleyball/rock climbing and using the meetup app but it varies in popularity by city. Really just force yourself to go out to events and it'll slowly work out!
Take the initiative and invite people to do things quickly and try do the core planning on the spot e.g., get to a time, place, activity quickly.
It won’t always work but it’s a really fast filter for those who are looking for new friends vs not. If they don’t take you up within a short time move on.
In the same boat (late 20s, married, in a similar area). Need to really put yourselves out there with coworkers, neighbors, and activities (gym, sports, etc.). Hosting / or organizing always helps.
But on the plus side, have found there is definitely a domino effect, where once you make a few friends you’ll end up meeting their friends and so forth, especially in Denver where it less “cliquey” than other cities.
You should just have kids. Great way to connect with the neighbors.
Having kids for the sole purpose of using them as a tool to have friends is a bad idea 🤔
They are a huge commitment, and they are human beings.
I joined meetup and facebook groups centered around hobbies I enjoy…hiking, skiing, climbing etc. there is also a Facebook group called activities with friends and they do a wide variety of broader interest events from happy hours to axe throwing to summer tubing, etc.
Sports/outdoor stuff imo. Get some people to ski and you’ve made friends for years
Met my friends via meetup, and we have been hanging out for 2 years now
