Yupp! say you'd like to have an exploratory conversation
Yes, let them know you are passive but interested in learning more about the role. Have the call and then decide if it’s worth your time to update your resume. Recruiter should be able to conduct an initial screening call just based on your LinkedIn profile. Good luck!
Reminds me of a motivational speaker at some event I attended long ago. Guy worked at Hallmark I think it was, and after a long career somehow managed to get a job title that didn’t report to anybody, but sounded really important, like Chief Creativity Officer or something like that.
He would meet with all sorts of people from across the company who would pitch their ideas to him, and all he would do is just give everyone permission to do what they wanted to do.
You sound like a rule follower. Try a little rule bending, you might find you like it.
You should always have an updated resume and even if you’re passive you may find you’re more interested after talking with them. Also it doesn’t hurt to interview/leverage another offer if you think you’re underpaid.
