Salary for an IP at a big nyc agency?
NEED A PROPER SUGGESTION / GUIDANCE
I'm a fresher candidate, I'm currently working at Xoriant Solutions as a software engineer with 5LPA package. I got it through off campusing. I have got 2 more offers from college placement, first one is SENIOR ANALYST at Capgemini with 7.5LPA and second one is SOFTWARE DEVELOPER at Hitachi with 9 LPA.
Which company should i join as a fresher to have a proper growth or a good role in future ?
Any help regarding this would be highly appreciated.

“I don’t see how this is relevant to the opportunities” - if that’s your phone screening interview. If they are guarding the salary expectation, say that it depends on the role. It’s hard to give out a number when i don’t have a clear picture of this opportunity.
I did say that. I updated my post above sorry. I asked for what they are aiming at and she provided a number 2 times my current and I said her number is within my expectation. She didnt ask for my expected number - she asked for my current number. So I really don’t want to tell her my current salary lol.
OP, what state are you in, and what company is this? In several states it is no longer legal to ask for an applicant’s current salary. Any company that operates in a state with those laws has to comply with them in all other states in order to not be in violation of the law in those states where it is no longer legal to ask.

I would just push on the recruiter
Send them this
Tell them you signed an NDA about your salary and cannot legally disclose.
Say salary is proprietary, say if it’s that simple why don’t the Democrats have trumps taxes?
Call her bluff and say look I’m not sharing my salary information, I’m serious about this opportunity and I’m willing to escalate this to the opportunity firm’s HR if you are unwilling to move past this unethical requirement
“I want to do more research before I answer, can I get back to you on this?”
Yeah lol the expected salary is solved, no need for that. they did tell me what their expected range for the job is, which is why I know it’s 2x my current salary 😂. And that’s why I said “You provided a range and I am okay with your proposed range. So I don’t understand why my current salary is a must disclose.” To which she replied all those bs about legal and W-2 stuff.
Well update: I stood my ground and tried to talk her out of it and questioned the legality of her asking, but when that didn’t work and she became weirdly adamant with legal stuff, I went silence on the call for a few mins trying to get some good feedback on Fishbowl 😂 but good responses didnt come until a bit later on sorry 😂. So I told her I need more time to think about it and will contact her later. She said “yeah once you tell us your current salary, I’ll send you the JD and forward your resume to the employer” I was like yeah alright. Should have said something like “put $1” there to move on.
Don’t work with this external recruiter.
Never had a company asked my W2 before
Yup I’m with you D1.
They can’t get your W-2, that’s illegal.
In some states (eg. NY) that practice is illegal. While they can “ask” for it, you are not required and there is no legal purpose for such. If it is in a state where it is illegal, you can file a claim with the state’s department of labor and industries if you desire.
What about Texas?
I refused to share my salary for a job interview once. I didn’t get a call back, but honestly I’m perfectly fine right that. Don’t be asking questions that have nothing to do with the discussion. Thats bull.
OP - what happened finally?
Yeah OP UPDATE US!
Just provide a range
It’s a trap. Just keep dodging.
All the responses suggested here didnt work and they are all about expected salary, not the current salary in my question. I did say all those things you guy said to try to wiggle out of her asking more, but she really pushed for my current salary, stating stuff like “legal, W2, and I can’t send you the JD and can’t forward your resume to the company if you don’t disclose your current salary.” 😒 I’ve never seen such a weirdly adamant recruiter before!
I was a recruiter for 10+ years - there is nothing legally Required to keep the process moving and as someone else mentioned above, I think it’s illegal to ask for your W2 but don’t quote me. She’s just throwing her weight around because she probably promised the clients all of this information.
I’d call her bluff and tell her something along the lines of what has already been said and if her client is so focused on your current salary vs what you bring to the table (and what the recruiter saw when presumably she reached out to you about the role), then perhaps it’s not a good fit for you. Of course that means you have to be ok with walking away. Sadly she’s holding the cards here but again, I’d call her bluff but that’s just me. 🤷🏻♀️💅🏻
