IFS is basically just like many industry jobs - small raises in non-promo years, big ones in promotion years. No cohort model (that’s just Advisory). I’ve seen bonuses between 7-18% since I moved from Advisory. So I think the information given is accurate but your concern for minuscule bonus is a bit overblown particularly if you can get 1 or 2 CRT ratings in the new role. My usual advice though to client service folks coming over is to not take a role where you take a base pay cut.

More or less. Been at the firm about 5 years now and, besides my promotion from SA to Manager, my increases have been around 4-6% as a high performer. My bonuses have been around 6-8%. The increases aren’t great, but being part of IFS means working from home everyday. For me, that perk makes up for not so great increases and comparatively low bonuses.
What function are you in?
Yearly raises are dependent on where you are in a salary band. If you’re under the mid-point, you’ll get more than 3% until you cross over the mid-point which is when you’ll start getting under 3%. Bonuses, however, are based on performance. High performing SM’s could get up to 15%.
This is accurate. I always receive 2 percent raises.
Did they say your salary will be unchanged from consulting? If your base $ are protected, then the bonus drop could still be made up through no travel and wlb.

My raises have been small (maybe 2-3%) and my bonus has been around 9% for the past two years since I switched to IFS. And I would be equivalent to a Tier 2 (there’s no official Tiers in IFS but everyone talks like there are.) It’s not terrible. I did also take a ~8% pay cut when I switched from advisory to IFS, but I wfh everyday and typically travel once a month for a few days. Overall, it’s worth it for me.
Do most IFS work remotely?
I do, and everyone in my IFS function (marketing) does, with a few exceptions. Being home 100% makes up for small raises and bonuses.
