People love to hire themselves. This makes sense. I’ll give you 10:1 odds this was said while wearing either an indoor scarf or clear glasses.
This reminds me that I’ve lost my clear glasses. Dammit
Not what you all want to hear, but there is pragmatism in bringing on someone who the client may respond to based on look and personality. Selling the work, even if it’s mediocre, is a valuable skill.
VP2, hiring someone because you know their dad is definitely wrong. More importantly, is your definition of morally wrong just that it's criminal?
I wouldnt hire anyone who wasn’t going to make my life easier. Personality is important but never trumps the work.
🤢🤮
Sounds about right. Talent doesn't matter as much as we think, and agencies are full of people that look creative but aren't that good. It's unfortunate.
:(
“they were in a shitty cover band one time in college and looks like they would be into radiohead. send the offer”
The selling isn’t the issue. He truly was excited by how creative they looked. The hypocrisy is that he preaches it’s all about making great work but obviously it’s not.
If the work wasn’t very good, what were they selling 👀 ?
Selling themselves.
Hah, “I like their vibe”
This is why there's too many white creatives.
Gross. but unfortunately, a big part to hiring is hiring faces to represent your company. Not for me personally, but have seen this in action in the past. They hire and promote people who have branded themselves well, have an influential presence, etc.
