Re: the VP, what did they get in terms of equity? In PE owned companies I've seen VP salaries around $150k but with MIP bonuses targeted around 50% and with significant options that would pay hundreds of thousands in event of a positive transaction.
Recruiters are snakes.
At least you saved both of yourselves some time. I have been getting a range of positions I’m either way under qualified for (e.g 15-20 years experience leading a company) or doesn’t tie at all with my experience. For instance: random accounting gigs (I’m not an accountant) with $55k base, which would be a $100k pay cut for me. I think recruiting= send random shit on LinkedIn and see what happens.
If I’m asked I always give my max salary request for what I think would justify me leaving my firm.
I’ve never not received an offer or been considered, just have received what they can offer max.
