I just got off a recruiter webinar. They literally just want simple, get to the point, concise emails. One said a creative subject line that makes them what to open it. Also, no cover letters. They hate cover letters. They don’t want to read paragraphs. Also, if you know a person who works at the agency, have them forward your book to the recruiter cause it’s more likely to be seen over you cold emailing with the all the other people cold emailing. But, at the end of day Every recruiter is different. Heck, some want stunts.

Second that — peer referrals are often the way to go. Check on LinkedIn who you know at the agency, and if you don’t know anyone, try to network your way in. That said, I’ve heard some agencies are shying away from internal referrals because it smacks of the “old boy’s network” and discourages diversity.

If you are extremely excited about a role, submitted your resume through the proper channel (to simply now hope your resume made it through the algorithm) could you also simultaneously email through linked in a few people that work there your cover letter in hopes they like what they read an also submit on your behalf. Good strategy or not appropriate? Look forward to some thoughts...
