Reference the Epstein Netflix series, there are a couple of 20 year olds called out in episode 3 or 4. I a finding myself victim blaming here and would like other opinions. In short, they were initially raped but stayed with him for a couple of years, one even introduced him to her younger sister who was also eventually assaulted.....

It’s because of his position of power. He had so much wealth and would isolate these women a lot of times they would act out of fear. Legally speaking unless explicitly threatened it’s considered coercion, but if you’ve ever been assaulted before you’ll know the feeling of just wanting to survive/freezing and unable to respond properly to a situation.

My logic is like this, if raped, why stay, they were adults not underage minors. Why introduce him to your sister. Don’t get me wrong, he should have been hung years ago for everything he did to the minors. I believe that he raped the 20 years the first time, but is it rape if you stay in that situation voluntarily and you are of age. I don’t want to victim blame here but this specific scenario baffles me. Open to others thoughts and opinions.

I completely agree with your reasoning and I was thinking exactly the same when I was watching the series.

Thanks all.

Well think of members of a cult, for example. Let’s say they were born and raised in the cult, recruited friends and family members and did terrible, unethical things while in the cult that they probably shouldn’t have. When they leave the cult and come to their senses, we praise them instead of victim blaming them, even though they are adults who are obviously capable of making their own decisions. It is hard to know and understand what is happening to you when you are in it.

I just recently resigned my teaching position for a position in another state to be closer to family. I will be making a lot less money (about 1/2 as much). Am I crazy to give up a high paying teaching position that took me 12 years to get to on the pay scale or is being closer to my family worth the pay cut? Anybody ever found themselves in a similar situation? I gave up tenure too. Honestly, I wasn’t happy living in my home town making the most money I've made. I guess it’s a leap of faith!
